The police continue the "safe route" operation and operate in the south for the third day in a row • Weapons were confiscated and criminals were caught • Senior officer to "Israel Hayom": "Our activity is broad and not specific"

Signal white man?

After the Minister of National Security announced that he would move his office to Be'er Sheva, in order to closely monitor what is happening in the south, the Israel Police are continuing with Operation "Safe Route" and have embarked on widespread enforcement for the third day in a row.

The operation that began as a surprise last Monday with a focus on criminal elements in the Aror, Rahat, Eirat and Segev Shalom sectors, with the aim of locating illegal weapons in the south.

It is possible that the operation signals to Minister Ben Gabir that the police are operating in the southern sector and fighting crime, even when he is not near them in the southern region.

More than 150 MGB fighters from the Internal Security Division participated in the operation, using technological means such as drones. Also, many police officers, dogs and more. The police also openly stated that the enforcement is expected to continue in the coming days.

On Saturday night, "Ba Israel Hayom" announced that incoming minister Itamar Ben Gvir intends to establish another office in the capital of the Negev in order to keep a close eye on what is happening.

In the southern district, they are apparently signaling to Laban Gvir that they continue their activity even without "supervision".

Activity in the Negev Diaspora,

Yesterday, on the second day of the operation, the plan was to conduct searches in the diaspora sector in the Be'er Sheva Otef, but the police changed direction and instead turned to targeted enforcement in the areas of business licensing in the settlement of Segev Shalom.

The purpose of the change was to show that the strengthening of governance must be widely distributed, in order to let lawbreakers from all areas understand that the police are monitoring all sectors.

If on the first day of the operation a number of weapons were confiscated, a luxury vehicle from which a shooting was carried out and cannabis-type drugs with eight detainees who were transferred for further treatment, then on the second day the police destroyed 200 kg of meat, stopped the activity of a pancheria that apparently sold auto parts of unknown origin , and handed out different reports according to the offenses.

On the third day leading the Rahat station, the police again changed direction and went to the economic districts in the middle between white collar and blue collar crimes.

"As part of the police activity to strengthen governance and enforcement in Arab society in the Negev, with the aim of protecting the lives, safety and security of the citizens, a large-scale combined enforcement activity was carried out last night in the city of Rahat," it said.

During the operation, the forces raided 12 businesses from different fields.

Among the things that were discovered were the non-registration of income according to law, the disconnection of pirated electricity sources and the imposition of a debt of over half a million shekels, enforcement against income tax debtors.

In addition, seven additional violations that hurt consumers were discovered and the businesses were fined another NIS 50,000.

All the findings were forwarded to further legal treatment in the various units, and in the coming days four cases of running a business without a license will be forwarded to the South District Licensing Prosecutor for review.

"The focus of the integrated enforcement on all its aspects continues with the cooperation of all the bodies, while exercising capabilities and means for the safety of the normative, law-abiding public," it was stated.

In a conversation with "Israel Hayom", the officer of the Rahat station's operations division, Superintendent Alex Smolyansky explains the importance of the factor of surprise and deterrence: "It is not one-off, we don't operate like that - we're done, the intensity changes, if we go into one-off activity we do so If we want to do something broader, we do that too."
