The authorities in Mali announced that five people were killed in an armed attack targeting a first aid center in Markakongo, in the southeast of the country.
And the French Press Agency quoted the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection as saying in a statement: “A traffic ambulance center belonging to the Civil Protection in the city of Marcacongo on the road between Bamako and Segou was attacked by unknown gunmen,” adding: “The attack resulted in five deaths, three of them Civilians, a firefighter and one wounded.
The statement indicated that the defense and security forces are taking all measures to search for, identify and arrest the perpetrators of this act so that they are held accountable for their actions.
For a decade, Mali has been witnessing acts of violence and terrorism that spread to its neighbors Niger and Burkina Faso, resulting in thousands of civilian and military deaths and the displacement of more than two million people from their homes.
