Last year, 82,601 notifiable diseases were reported.

The Freising health department had its hands full.

Freising

– the Freising Health Department had 82,601 case reports of notifiable illnesses on the table within a year – of which the largest number was of course due to the pandemic.

A review by the district office now provides information about which other notifiable diseases have occupied the district.

Notifiable diseases

Overall, according to the written version of the Freising district office, exactly 82,601 notifiable diseases were reported to the health department between November 1, 2021 and October 31, 2022.

However, the suspicious reports were significantly higher.

According to the district office, how high cannot be quantified afterwards.

About the numbers: 82,025 people in the district fell ill with Covid19. This enormously high number - as of Wednesday, according to the RKI, there have been a total of 90,008 corona cases in the Freising district since the beginning of the pandemic - are probably due to the gradual easing of the corona measures in the year 2022 and the return to everyday life as it was before the pandemic began.

In addition, 96 people fell ill with campylobacter (bacteria that causes diarrhea), 89 with influenza and 53 with chickenpox.

There was a low density of infection with whooping cough: six cases were reported here, two people fell ill with mumps – only one person with legionellosis (a form of pneumonia).

The hantavirus also had little chance in the district, only one person became infected with it.

In the case of rabies, there was only one suspected case.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

TBE cases

However, ticks still pose a greater risk: Four people from the district had to be treated for TBE.

Monkeypox also arrived in the Freising district in 2022, with four cases on the table at the health department.

tuberculosis investigations

What last year, according to the district office, led to an exceptionally high level of investigations and arrangements were cases of pulmonary and lymph node tuberculosis (TB) - seven in number, six of them new cases.

The drama: four of the infected were suffering from a type of TB that is very contagious for other people, the so-called open, - the infection occurs via droplets that are inhaled, for example, by coughing or sneezing by the person concerned.

According to the district administrator's flashback, all tuberculosis patients were immediately referred to specialist treatment, which prevented further spread.

Great expense

The complex: In order to identify possible contact persons, extensive environmental investigations were started - a total of 95 special blood tests were carried out, 15 of which were positive.

These 15 affected individuals then underwent outpatient examinations and an X-ray to rule out overt TB.

Drug treatment was started prophylactically in five of these retested patients.

Among other things, also with two children: In these cases there was no positive test result, but the chances of infection at this age are high.

In this regard, the health department also had to go to field service assignments in asylum accommodation to check the status of possible patients who could have been infected by taking blood.
