The night slalom on the Gudiberg should not just be a World Cup race.

With a colorful supporting program, the organizers want to turn the sporting event into an event.

Things are happening in quick succession in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The New Year's competition in front of 20,000 spectators in the sold-out Olympic ski stadium is only just history when the next highlight is on the program with the night slalom on the Gudiberg.

And the organizers from the Garmisch Ski Club are not going to be stingy, they are putting on a big program, the World Cup race is supposed to be an event.

"We want to touch skiing," stresses Martina Betz, Chairwoman of SC Garmisch, again and again.

"The night slalom is intended to transport skiing and enthusiasm to the outside world." To ensure that this is successful, there is something for everyone on the Gudiberg, "an attractive event for the family, nothing exclusive" the spectators can expect.

And that starts around two hours before the first runner hits the slopes at 3.40 p.m. and ends well after the award ceremony.

“The spectators should be whipped right after admission.

And after the race, the party continues.”

A well-known DJ should ensure a party mood

There will be a beat-controlled light show, for which a well-known stadium director was hired.

In addition, two disc jockeys ensure a party atmosphere.

The SCG has managed a real coup.

In addition to "DJ El Mar", who has already been to the Ski World Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the past, "DJ Stari" will be DJing.

Olympic Games 2004 in Athens, 2008 in Beijing and 2016 in Rio, beach volleyball world championships and after-show parties after concerts by Robbie Williams, the Rolling Stones or Bon Jovi - the Austrian brings with him the experience of over 2000 events.

A true full professional on the turntables who knows how to make the crowd celebrate.

"He should really step on the gas," says Betz.

“We deliberately did not increase the entrance fee and did not respond to the suggested price.

We want an event for everyone.”

Peter Fischer, Honorary President of SC Garmisch, on ticket prices

Up to 6000 fans were initially approved for the SC Garmisch event - "and we will reach them," announces Honorary President Peter Fischer confidently.

The attractive entrance fees in particular should attract visitors.

You can join for 25 euros, children and young people up to the age of 16 have free access.

“We deliberately did not increase the entrance fee and did not respond to the suggested price.

We want an event for everyone.”

But despite all the party atmosphere, the focus is still on the sporting aspect, the World Cup race on the Gudiberg.

And that has a big advantage.

"Unlike at the Kandahar, the spectators look up from the finish at the bottom to the start," explains Betz.

Runners are within reach for spectators

A real spectacle, especially in the second round when it's pitch dark and the arena is floodlit.

There will also be a light show.

In order to be able to follow the race ideally, there is a second large video wall in the area of the west grandstand this year.

And the organizers have an additional treat up their sleeve.

The spectators can get very close to the runners, their idols.

Because similar to the races on the Kandahar or recently at the New Year's competition, the athletes have to walk past the audience in the direction of the Olympiahaus after their runs in front of the west stand on a so-called "catwalk".

So the starts are almost up close and close enough to touch.

“Hands-on skiing” was not promised too much at the Garmisch Ski Club.
