Dachau senior boss explains why small shops have to be more expensive.

Regional products can be cheap alternatives.

Dachau – In the minutes when Reinhard Haagen complains about increased purchase prices in his drinks store in Dachau, Rewe sells the Coca-Cola crate for 9.49 euros.

In the traditional shop it costs 15.99 euros - "because we pay 14 euros in the purchase alone".

The 72-year-old has been in the Haagen beverage store on Aggensteinstrasse for 26 years.

The store moved in 1993 and the family business has existed since 1983.

Dachau beverage dealers desperate for price increases

Over the years, the senior boss, whose daughter now runs the shop, was used to price increases – at most once a year.

"Meanwhile, we sometimes get new lists every 14 days." Last year alone, Almdudler increased three times, the price for the box is 22.99 euros - instead of 15.99 euros at the beginning of the year.

Lindau juice carriers were three euros more expensive.

"But our range hasn't increased." Between ten and 20 percent stayed with the beverage market.

A mixed calculation that doesn't contain more.

“It annoys me that there is such a difference in purchase prices,” says Haagen.

He understands that large buyers come cheaper.

"But we can't bring in the money from the manufacturers alone." The difference is just too big.

Rewe, for example, had declared on the price wars between supermarkets and manufacturers that it would reject incomprehensible price demands.

Haagen grumbles: "But we have to accept the prices as they are." The beverage market buys about half its goods from logisticians and the other half directly from manufacturers.

Negotiations are not promising on either side.

That's also why he has "no sympathy" for Rewe.

Dachau beverage market not at risk despite price increases – craft beers provide security

Customers would now complain about the price increases in Dachau.

"But what should you do?" says Haagen.

Premium brands are less in demand, and sales in general have fallen slightly.

"Only water is reasonably stable." Nevertheless, Haagen's beverage purchase is not in danger.

"We have many local country breweries in our range and sell a large selection of craft beers," says the 72-year-old.

As a result, and with a bakery in the traditional store, customers would continue to come to the store on Aggensteinstrasse.

The senior boss advises consumers to take a closer look at brands from the region.

Haagen also wants to offer cheap products, especially with lower purchase prices - although the competition has intensified significantly.
