The American administration came out this evening (Wednesday) against the government's intention to legalize the illegal outpost in Chomash and change the secession law.

"The outpost in Chomash is illegal even under Israeli law," said US State Department spokesman Ned Price at the daily press briefing.

"Our call to avoid unilateral measures certainly includes any decision to establish a new settlement, establish illegal outposts, or build of any kind in areas deep in the West Bank near Palestinian communities or on private Palestinian land."

Yesterday, the state asked the High Court for a three-month extension to regulate the status of the Chomash outpost, in response to a petition that requested its eviction. The government updated that it plans to amend the law of disengagement, under which the settlement in northern Samaria was evacuated, and to regulate the legal status of the Yeshiva that was established in the area even after the evacuation.

Five-year evacuation.

After the announcement on behalf of the state, the judges of the High Court issued a conditional order instructing the government to respond within 90 days as to why the Chumash Yeshiva would not be vacated. This, after during the previous government's tenure the state expressed a position that the outpost should be vacated. The petition states that "the place deserves to be vacated." , but nevertheless, the state representatives did not specify a date for this. The state asked the Supreme Court not to intervene in the issue. "The respondents are working on enforcing the law and order in the place.

Paying attention to the sensitivity and associated complexity," the state's answer reads.
