Defense Minister Yoav Galant spoke this evening (Wednesday) with American Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, and emphasized Israel's commitment to do everything to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
In addition, the Minister of Defense noted that the international community should be harnessed for cooperation on the issue.
In the conversation between the two, Gallant expressed his commitment to deepening the military, security and technological cooperation between the security systems of the two countries, and reviewed the current situation in the various sectors in which Israel operates.
The ministers also discussed the contribution of the Abraham Accords to security stability in the Middle East, and concluded that they will work to deepen and expand ties with other countries in the region.

Earlier this week, Gallant assumed the position of Minister of Defense after the ministerial exchange ceremony in Karia in the presence of outgoing Deputy Defense Minister Alon Shuster, Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, Director General of the Ministry of Defense Amir Eshel, Mossad Head Dadi Barnea, Shin Bet Chief Ronan Bar and the General Staff Forum. He replaced Benny Gantz, chairman of the state camp and former Chief of Staff.
In his speech, the incoming minister noted that the security challenges facing Israel have become more complex and diverse, with Iran's pursuit of a military nuclear capability accompanied by repeated statements about Israel's destruction. "We will continue and do everything possible to return the captives and missing people home," Gallant added, "against terrorism in all its forms we will take the initiative, we will act with an offensive policy, we will fight terrorism Uncompromising.
