The former model agent Shai Avital, who is suspected of committing sexual offenses against 27 women, will be brought to the Peace Court in Tel Aviv today (Wednesday) for a hearing on the extension of his detention. The event will be broadcast live on the "Israel Hayom" website.
Avital landed in Israel last night together with representatives of the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office who accompanied him on the flight from the Netherlands. Upon his landing, Avital was transferred to the offices of the central unit at the district headquarters. The investigators intend to confront him with the evidence collected against him, as well as hold confrontations between him and two of the complainants against him.
"We are sure of his absolute innocence," said yesterday attorney Shashi Gaz, who arrived together with attorney Sharon Nahari to the police station where Avital was arrested.
"The extradition was an important first step on the way to proving his innocence, and things will become clearer later."
