At the end of the year, the temperatures in Germany rise again.

The calculations for the coming winter months also show a clear deviation and could mean record temperatures.

Stuttgart – In December, a cold spell brought icy air to Germany and caused temperatures to plummet.

Occasionally the snow also trickled;

There was hope for a white Christmas.

But the weather in Germany changed and the chance of snow on the public holidays burst.

Instead, qualified meteorologist Dominik Jung from

wetter.net

warned of “chaotic weather” with gusts of wind and flooding.

The forecasts for the coming months do not look any better.

Instead of snow and cold in winter, it should get warmer and warmer by New Year's Eve.

The forecasts of the weather models indicate that the cold season has already said goodbye, as BW24 summarizes.

Weather expert with "shocking winter forecast": There is a risk of record heat in the next few months

"There's no wintry weather in sight far and wide - the winter has started so well," says weather expert Dominik Jung.

December is currently still 0.3 degrees too cold, but by looking back on January 1 at the latest, the month will still have been slightly too warm compared to the climate mean, predicts Jung.

The calculations of the American weather agency NOAA also give another "shocking winter forecast", as

wetter.net

writes.

January, February and March are supposed to be much too warm.

"When you look at this weather map, you ask yourself, where is NOAA's CFS model actually going for January 2023?" asks the meteorologist.

The map shows red colors that are widespread in Germany, which stand for the temperature deviations.

"Red means: Up to two degrees warmer than the average climate for the years 1991 to 2020," explains Jung.

In the east and south of the country, even the dark red area is increasing, which means a deviation of up to three degrees.

A similar picture emerges for February and March.

"I dare to predict that if that happens, the current winter will probably be one of the warmest since weather records began," says Dominik Jung.

"The one or two cold weeks at the beginning of December are practically pulverized by these temperature developments that we could be facing." However, one must remember that this is a "very rough climate trend", adds the weather expert.

Temperatures rise up to 20 degrees on New Year's Eve - hurricane gusts possible

On Wednesday (December 28) the temperatures in Germany will be between 7 and a maximum of 10 degrees, with lots of clouds and rain in places.

Thursday (December 29) will also remain mild, at 9 to 12 degrees.

Friday (December 30) will be a bit warmer.

On the Upper Rhine, for example, up to 13 degrees are possible.

On the last day of the year, temperatures continue to rise.

"New Year's Eve will be extremely warm," says the meteorologist.

The forecast for December 31 is between 12 and 20 degrees.

According to calculations by the American weather model, severe hurricane gusts with speeds of 100 to 120 km/h are also possible over large parts of Germany on New Year's Eve.

In the latest forecasts, the whole thing has been reduced a bit again, but gusts of wind can still occur occasionally, warns Dominik Jung.

Whether a storm is actually sweeping over Germany can only be confirmed with certainty by the next weather forecasts.
