The panel of judges of the District Court in Tel Aviv this morning (Wednesday) convicted Mandafro Alaza, 39 years old from Holon, of murder under aggravated circumstances, who murdered his wife Mastoval in front of their children at home about two years ago on the eve of Independence Day, in front of their children. Mandafro murdered her a month and a half after he was released from prison for violent offenses against her.
During the hearing, the judges did not accept the defense's claim that it was a serious mental disorder, and convicted him of murder under aggravated circumstances and not under the reduced death charge.
"A particularly cruel murder, the defendant took his wife's life in front of their children in a particularly cruel manner," noted Judge Raanan Ben Yosef in his decision.
"He stabbed her repeatedly and ended up with a life sentence. The court must impose a life sentence."
According to an indictment, the couple had been married for 16 years.
Over the past few years, Alaza used to attack his wife on various occasions and threaten to kill her.
One day, in the evening, an argument arose between the two after the deceased refused his request to help him make coffee.
The accused took a glass bottle that was in the living room and hit her on the head with it.
After that, the accused went to the kitchen, took a kitchen knife with a blade about 20 cm long and the deceased fled from the apartment to the stairwell.

The accused chased her and stabbed her in the back and neck in front of their minor children who witnessed all the events.
Their minor son even tried to prevent the accused from continuing the attack without success and injured his hand during the struggle with the accused.

The attorney's office stated at the time that "the defendant's actions were carried out with unimaginable cruelty in front of the eyes of his minor children. Starting with throwing a glass bottle on the head of the deceased in the living room of their apartment, when his minor son tries to keep him away from the deceased, moving on to stabbing her in the stairwell as she lies drinking blood and helpless while his minor son grabs his shoulders and calls him 'Father is enough' and ends by running away from the scene when he passes the deceased's body in a stairwell."
