Posted on January 1 on the streaming platform, the creation of the American showrunner offers an original viewing mode. Of the eight episodes, seven can be viewed in any order you wish.

An ambitious robbery, a band of seasoned criminals with complementary skills, old resentments... On paper, the scenario of

Kaleidoscope

is not very original.

The recipe is known, seen, reviewed and re-reviewed.

In the hold-up register,

Ocean Eleven, Elusive

and

Inside Man

at the cinema like

La Casa de papel

- to name a few - have already occupied this ground and marked the spirits.

To stand out from his predecessors,

Eric Garcia

has bet on a structural subtlety allowing spectators to discover its story as it sees fit.

A non-linear story divided into eight major episodes with the only obligation to end with the one devoted to the very day of the big robbery.

“The story of a heist that spans 25 years and a unique television experience where each episode is a piece of the puzzle,

announces the introduction.

Follow this long-running crime through different time periods, in any order you want.

How will they get there?

Who will betray the others?

Who will get out?

By default,

Netflix

offers

a sequence of episodes but subscribers are free to form their own mosaic with the obligation to start with the didactic episode entitled

Black

and end with

White

.

Each episode focuses on recounting key events that occurred on the sidelines of the hold-up at different times.

Chronologically,

Green

(7 years before),

Yellow

(6 weeks before),

Orange

(3 weeks before),

Blue

(5 days before),

Red

(the next day) and finally

Pink

(6 months later).

Each episode made as a pilot

"With all of these series being offered in their entirety on streaming platforms, there's no reason to watch

Kaleidoscope

in order

," Eric Garcia told the

New York Post

.

Why can't we watch it out of order?

To make this viewing configuration possible, the American showrunner has structured his episodes accordingly by making them as if they were pilots

.

"By discovering the different characters at different times, you perceive them in different ways

," he explains.

It seemed wise to me to combine the story of a robbery and a non-linear narration.

A second viewing of the series in a different order will give you another look at the plot.

And

to emphasize that

"there is no perfect order"

among the 5040 possibilities to enjoy

), recruits a band of criminals to rob the vault of SLS, a high security company run by his former friend Roger Salas (Rufus Sewell).

At the end of the day, a booty of 7 billion dollars in bearer bonds stored in a safe with the latest technological innovations in terms of security.
