Alpenbus: If necessary, it can also be done without the city of Rosenheim

The original variant provided for two "branches".
One from Murnau via Penzberg to Bad Tölz, one from Tölz via Tegernsee and Miesbach to Rosenheim.
But then Rosenheim shot across.

What about the Alpenbus?
Line management and costs were clear - then the city of Rosenheim gave up.
The express bus still has chances of realization.
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – The subject of the Alpenbus, which was coordinated by the district, has disappeared a bit from public perception.
This is also a bus line that is important to the state, for which the Free State would pay heavily.
District Administrator Josef Niedermaier says the requirements are one hour and a few stops in order to maintain the character of the express bus line.
After the city of Rosenheim pulled out, the project was suddenly in question again
After long and tough negotiations, the route between Rosenheim and Murnau was fixed.
The costs that each district had to bear were also calculated.
Then a year ago the city of Rosenheim gave up "because they don't want to pay the around 50,000 euros," says Niedermaier.
This called the whole project into question again.
The statement from Rosenheim is now "a bit softened".
Now there is talk of “capping the annual issue.
But then the other districts would have to pay for a deficit that rose in Rosenheim.
Nobody does that.” The other suggestion is that the Free State could pay more, “but then the other districts want that too,” says Niedermaier.
The Free State rules out a higher subsidy
Of course, they continue to try to get Rosenheim to give in.
But there is also an examination as to whether the Free State would pay for the Alpenbus if Rosenheim is not the final stop.
Markus Büchler, member of the state parliament for the Greens, made a request to the state government in December.
The Free State rules out a higher subsidy for the city because it would be unequal treatment.
By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Bad Tölz newsletter.
However, an alternative end point would be conceivable
But the last two sentences in the state government's response are particularly interesting: "Should the city of Rosenheim finally decide against participating in the Alpenbus, a suitable alternative end point with a rail connection in the districts of Miesbach or Rosenheim could be examined and, if necessary, planned.
This would not stand in the way of the funding offered by the Free State.” The project could therefore also be implemented without the city of Rosenheim.
"We're doing everything we can to get the Alpenbus," says Niedermaier.
The earliest date would be 2025. "The longer we discuss, the later it will be."
