The municipality of Warngau is facing a year dedicated to infrastructure.

However, very few of the major projects are likely to go beyond the planning stage in 2023.

Warngau

– In 2023, the municipality of Warngau will have a lot of planning work to do.

Mayor Klaus Thurnhuber (FWG) talks about the biggest projects coming up this year.

fire station

The fire station in Oberwarngau is to be rebuilt on Kapellenfeld, in the vicinity of the woodchip thermal power station and day care center - that much is now certain.

"That's the most urgent issue," says Thurnhuber.

A sound insulation report has been commissioned.

For object and implementation planning, the head of the town hall has in mind a cooperation with a full-service provider such as BayernGrund, which takes care of the project and the EU-wide tender from the time the property is ready for construction through to the turnkey handover.

"That could relieve the city hall," hopes Thurnhuber.

For the old location, there are considerations to accommodate the salt spreaders for the winter service - which the municipality has outsourced to private service providers - here centrally.

A municipal building yard is still not an issue in Warngau.

"We don't need a building yard," says Thurnhuber.

"You can use up a lot of money with that, but it doesn't get any better."

childcare

Even though the expansion of the day-care center in Kapellenfeld has been completed and the large-scale day-care center in the former teacher's residence next to the Warngau elementary school will start operations at the beginning of the year: childcare in Warngau will remain a major construction site.

Not only because of the conversion of the kindergarten and crèche at Bergfeld in Oberwarngau, which the church is planning.

In Wall, childcare is being completely reorganized.

The municipality has given up the idea of expanding the kindergarten at the existing location in order to accommodate lunchtime care for the neighboring elementary school, which is currently being relocated to a temporary quarter.

However, there is not enough space at the current location.

That is why the municipality is targeting a new Waller kindergarten with a crèche.

She was offered a piece of land near the forest kindergarten group in the area of the sports field, reports Thurnhuber, but is open to other offers.

The previous kindergarten would then be completely available for lunchtime care.

An advantage if, from 2026, there is a nationwide legal right to childcare places for primary school children.

industrial Estate

The construction maturity of new commercial space in Birkerfeld II near Lochham, to the east of the existing commercial area, was a long time coming in 2022.

The municipality had the explosive ordnance clearance service comb the area for dangerous contaminated sites, and a traffic report has been commissioned.

"There is still a lot to be clarified in nature conservation," explains Thurnhuber.

"I hope that we can make the statute resolution in 2023." That would mean that the building is ready for construction.

public transport

The new commercial area should not only be greener - it should also be better connected to local public transport.

"So far, the RVO has been driving to the commercial area, but very rarely." Thurnhuber can imagine the community working with companies to set up a shuttle service for commuters between Holzkirchner station and Birkerfeld.

A connection to the market community’s Hoki call bus is not an issue for him: “It’s no use if it then goes to the train station via Kleinhartpenning,” says Thurnhuber, “we need the short distance between the train station and the industrial park.” Bus is tailored to Holzkirchner needs.

"You have to be honest.

You can't expect Holzkirchen to solve Warngau's infrastructure problems."

cycle path network

Cycling will also keep Warngau busy in 2023.

After the fast direct bike connection from Otterfing to Lake Tegernsee has not yet become tangible for the location marketing company (SMG) of the district and current regional development Oberland (REO), the municipality itself - on whose corridors the largest section would run at almost eight kilometers - wants to be involved take control of the planning again.

"The communities would have to buy the land and the federal government would expand - that would be the right way," says Thurnhuber.

At the end of December he still had an on-site appointment with the Rosenheim State Building Authority.

"We want to try to bring the communities together," says Thurnhuber.

“We want to approach the preliminary planning with the road construction engineers and in close coordination with the federal government.

A section from Kreuzstraße to Reitham is included in the federal traffic route plan.

“The next section should then be from Reitham to Oberwarngau.” A connection to Holzkirchen along the railway tracks would be conceivable.

A suggestion from the citizens' meeting should also gain momentum: a cycle path from Oberwarngau to the sports field, so that children in particular can cycle safely to training.

"I would have liked to have done that in 2023 as part of the road construction projects," says the head of town hall, "but we have to wait for the funding." Realistically, the planning and processing of the funding application should take this year and construction will probably not begin until 2024.

heating house

Rising energy prices and unpredictable source countries make regional, sustainable energy sources all the more attractive.

The municipality of Warngau is considering expanding its local heating network, which is fed by the woodchip thermal power station at Kapellenfeld.

"You can see our heating customers smiling now, even if the connection was a bit more expensive than the gas connection at the time," Thurnhuber notes.

"Anyone who gave preference to sustainability back then also has an economic advantage today." The community has received feedback from around 25 interested parties from Riedstrasse and Kirchweg.

In 2023 she wants to determine whether and how the connection is technically and economically viable.

The turn of the year offers an opportunity to look ahead.

Which projects would the municipalities like to advance in 2023, which construction projects will be implemented, where is there a need to catch up?

We asked around in the town halls of the district.
