The foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Qatar, Algeria and the Palestinian Authority condemned the visit of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gabir to the Temple Mount today (Thursday).

The ministers held a conference call, at the end of which they published a joint statement in which they emphasized that this is a provocation that must be condemned in the strongest possible way and a violation of the status quo in the holy places in Jerusalem.

"This is a serious escalation that the UN Security Council must act to stop by putting pressure on Israel to stop the provocative measures in Jerusalem," the joint statement said. The statement was published a few hours before the emergency discussion in the Security Council on Ben Gabir's ascent to the Temple Mount.
