On the night of December 28 to 29, around midnight, the police officers of the anti-crime brigade (BAC) of Creil (Oise) spotted a stolen vehicle circulating in the streets of the city.
They approach, then try to control the car, except that its driver immediately flees.
He takes the D1016 in the opposite direction, a chase then begins on the departmental road.
Despite the trucks and cars facing him, the fugitive drives at full speed, the BAC hot on his heels.
"A safety distance was respected and the traffic was light," said the police.
At Breuil-le-Vert, the driver loses control of his vehicle, which makes a complete U-turn.
He then finds himself facing the police, out of their car and ready to question him.
At that time, "he rushes directly at the policeman who just had time to jump into his vehicle, leaving the door open", indicates to the Parisian the public prosecutor of Senlis, Loïc Abrial.
The fugitive ends up in the mud
Despite the collision between the two vehicles, the fugitive, far from stopping, resumed his frantic race... Which ended, a few hundred meters further, in the mud.
His car bogged down, he abandons it and starts running through the fields, before finally being arrested by the police.
“The police officers showed exceptional composure”, assures a police source, with regard to a situation which could have degenerated.
Placed in pre-trial detention, the defendant, a 17-year-old minor, admits having "refused to comply" but denies having "deliberately ran into the policeman", specifies the public prosecutor.
Prosecuted for vehicle theft, aggravated refusal to comply, willful violence without incapacity on a police officer, degradation of public property, driving without a license, all as a repeat offense, he will be tried in juvenile court on January 17.
