The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail, which was built at a cost of 86.4 billion yuan, has been suspended for nearly three years due to illness. The government announced that the first phase of customs clearance for the mainland will be on January 8, but the high-speed rail will not be included for the time being.
The Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Lin Shixiong, said that the high-speed rail has been out of service for three years, and it will take time to "drill and test run", and it is tentatively scheduled to resume operation no later than January 15.
He also revealed that the high-speed rail will then go to the newly added Guangzhou East Railway Station.

Lin Shixiong said that the Hong Kong section of the high-speed rail has been suspended for nearly three years. There are already 40 people in Hong Kong, and the inland lot itself is driving as usual, so we need to find a free space for trial operation.
Lin Shixiong also pointed out that after taking into account the required time, it is expected that the high-speed rail will be in operation no later than January 15. At that time, train services from West Kowloon High-speed Rail Station to Futian, Shenzhen North, and Guangzhou South will resume.
In addition, a new train service to Guangzhou East will be added at that time.
