Today, Daraa Governorate celebrated the 71st Tree Day through a campaign to plant 1,200 forest saplings, on the Damascus-Daraa Highway near Khirbet Ghazala Bridge, Dael Road, with the participation of various activities in the governorate.

The deputy head of the Executive Office of the Daraa Governorate Council, Abdel Aziz al-Jahmani, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the campaign, which is being held under the title (Let's plant for a green future), comes as a contribution from the governorate to compensate the vegetation cover, which has been affected by a lot of damage as a result of the war, which necessitates an increase in afforestation operations. Restoration, care and protection of forests from abusers.

The Director of Agriculture, Eng. Bassam Al-Hashish, explained that the selection of this site comes due to the encroachments it has suffered during the previous years, indicating that the Directorate has extensive afforestation campaigns at the governorate level.

The Head of the Forestry Department, Eng. Jamil Al-Abdullah, stated that this campaign included planting cypress and eucalyptus trees, which is part of the afforestation campaigns launched in early November, in partnership with popular organizations, trade unions, universities, institutes and schools, in addition to participating in the family afforestation campaign initiative launched by the Ministry of Agriculture. Agriculture by distributing five free plants on the family card.

The head of the Peasants' Union, Mohamed Magdi Al-Jazaery, spoke about the union's participation in this campaign and other afforestation campaigns based on the importance of participatory work to restore the vegetation cover of our homeland, and to celebrate the tree as a bank of nature and a friend of the environment.

Among the participants in the campaign, Muhammad al-Rahum, Imad and Kinan al-Akrad said that planting trees is a duty for all of us, because it will reflect positively on our lives and our environment, in addition to the beauty that trees offer.
