Dießen – Not only at the municipal bathing areas in St. Alban and Riederau will parking drivers have to pay more in the future.

With the expansion of sales tax law, Dießen also became taxable for services that were not previously taxable - parking fees, for example.

With regard to the long-decided expansion of parking space management throughout the municipal area, it was determined that the parking fees should be increased by VAT and rounded up, since the parking ticket machines cannot issue small cents.

The municipal council recently passed the appropriate new version of the fee ordinance.

The rounded fees for the parking areas St. Alban, Seeweg-Süd, Riederau and Seiboldstraße have been 1.50 euros for one hour since January 1st instead of one euro.

The day ticket costs 6 euros (previously 5) and the annual ticket 36 euros (previously 30).

At the mobile home parking space in Seestraße, the day ticket increases from 12 euros to 14.50 euros.

Drivers still have a grace period for the additionally designated paid parking spaces on Von-Eichendorff-Strasse and on the Münster and in the Klosterhof, as the machines have not yet been delivered and set up.

This also applies to the large P & R area at the train station and the adjacent gravel area from the market hall, where the foundations have already been laid.

Many people are angry that commuters will have to pay parking fees here in the future.

Local councilor Michael Lutzeier (the party) fears that the residential streets around the station area will be blocked by parking, especially since there are no annual tickets for commuter parkers.

It is only possible to buy monthly tickets for twelve euros, which adds up to 144 euros over the year.

That is why he cannot agree to this “immature parking system”, said Lutzeier.

Manager Karl Heinz Springer explained that automatic cell phone parking with the ParkNow system cannot generate annual tickets.

These would have to be issued and invoiced manually in the town hall, which could not be done due to the increased administrative effort.

The manageable number of annual tickets for the bathing areas can still be managed, but not for the large P&R area.

By the way, if you only use the parking spaces for a quick purchase or for a walk with the dog, you don't have to pay anything for the first hour.

The green free button generates a corresponding parking ticket, which must be placed clearly visible behind the windscreen.

In the car parks at Marienmünster and Klosterhof, even the first two hours of attending a service are free of charge.

The income of around 75,000 euros from the bathing areas in St. Alban and Riederau alone in the past year proves that parking space management will be worthwhile for the market community.

The acquisition costs of around 47,000 euros for the six new parking machines will probably be recouped in the first year.
