Fürth – On Monday afternoon, January 2, a 20-year-old triggered a large-scale police operation with a stun gun.
Alarmed residents dialed the emergency number because the man was climbing around on the scaffolding of an apartment building in Südstadt and fired shots.
The Fürth Police Inspectorate and the Central Franconia Support Command (USK) approached with several cars and discovered the suspect on the property.
He now faces a penalty on suspicion of violating the Weapons Act.
Police arrive with several strips
Local residents informed the police that the man climbed onto the scaffolding and was carrying a pistol.
When the officers arrived, they found the suspect on the property and secured the starter gun and associated ammunition in his apartment.
"After he was confronted with the allegations, the 20-year-old admitted to firing the shot," writes the police headquarters in Central Franconia in its press release.
Alarm pistols repeatedly lead to police interventions, as in November at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich.
In Germany, a blank gun may only be used in public if you have the so-called "small gun license", the Bavarian police informs you on their website.
Otherwise, driving outdoors is a criminal offence, and shooting is a misdemeanor.
Due to the repeated abuse, especially on days like New Year's Eve, Berlin's Interior Senator Iris Spranger (SPD) recently called for tougher rules for the purchase of alarm guns.
