The district of Erding will soon aim to become a Fairtrade district.
Erding
– Erding is on the last few meters to become a Fairtrade district.
This is announced by spokeswoman Claudia Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer.
To do this, a whole range of retailers and restaurateurs had to be found who offer or process a certain number of fair trade goods.
There are also several fair trade schools such as the Berglern elementary school and the Heilig Blut secondary school for girls.
(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.)
According to Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer, the Fairtrade goals are "to connect and support producers and consumers, to overcome poverty in the producing countries, to promote small farmers, to promote climate protection and to exclude child labour".
The standards are intended to "compensate for injustices in conventional trade and unstable markets and enable producers, especially in emerging countries, to develop sustainably".
The district encourages even more companies to participate in order to expand the network.
Interested parties should contact Tel. (0 81 22) 58 10 42 or email annabell.sahlender@lra-ed.de.
It is not yet clear when the district will receive its Fairtrade seal.
A coordination group, which was accompanied by the former Erdinger SPD city councilor Carina Bischke, was significantly involved in the preparatory work.
She is involved in the association BildungsArbeit Global Sozial.
