In Swabia, a five-year-old boy suddenly disappeared while playing.

The police searched for him with a helicopter, drone and dog unit.

Nördlingen – A mother experienced worrying hours on Thursday (January 5).

While playing, her five-year-old son in Nördlingen (Donau-Ries district) suddenly disappeared without a trace.

Completely distraught and desperate, she dialed the emergency number and described the incident to the police in Swabia.

The Nördlingen police then immediately initiated a large-scale operation.

The boy was searched for with a helicopter, drone and service dogs.

Five-year-old triggers large-scale operation: boy reappears 35 kilometers away

After two nerve-wracking hours, finally the happy news.

The five-year-old reappeared in Aalen (Baden-Württemberg), 35 kilometers away.

Emergency services were able to pick him up at the station.

The boy had taken the train from Nördlingen to Aalen all by himself.

"The child was brought home by our colleagues & handed over to the happy mother," police said on Twitter.

The mother is happy and relieved to have her son with her again.

How the boy got to the station and got the idea to get on a train was not clear from the information available to the police so far.

In Augsburg, a woman gave birth to her baby on her own - with the help of a fire brigade employee over the phone.

When she went into labor she was alone in her apartment.
