On the way to a response to the move that led to an examination of the "legality of the occupation" in The Hague: the political-security cabinet convened for the first time and discussed possible measures against the PA • Assessment: in the coming days the response measures will be published • The possibility of canceling the VIP certificates for senior officials in the Palestinian Authority is being considered

The political-security cabinet met today (Thursday) for the first time since the establishment of the new government and discussed possible countermeasures towards the Palestinian Authority.

The discussion was held following the move initiated by the Palestinian Authority at the United Nations, which resulted in the International Court of Justice in The Hague issuing an opinion on the legal consequences of Israeli control over the territories of Judea and Samaria.

The discussion took place following the publication in "Israel Today" about the fact that officials in the government demand an Israeli response, among other things in accordance with the coalition agreements between the Likud and religious Zionism.

It is estimated that in the next day or so Israel's response measures will be published, with one of the options being considered being the denial of VIP certificates from Palestinian officials and/or limiting their freedom of movement.

87 countries voted in favor of the Palestinians' request.

Israel, the United States and 24 other countries voted against, 53 abstained.

"The Jewish people are not conquering in their own land and they are not conquering in our eternal capital Jerusalem," Netanyahu said after the vote.

"In the last few days I have had conversations with world leaders who changed their vote as a result."

The prime minister added that the intensive efforts of the country's president Yitzhak Herzog, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs resulted in a reduction in the number of countries that voted in favor of the decision.

Despite the loss in the political system, they draw encouragement from the fact that, despite the automatic majority against Israel in the UN, the majority of the countries of the world did not vote in favor of the Palestinian decision. In addition, Israel is satisfied that the majority of Western democracies and the majority of European countries voted against, as well as the fact that the number of countries that supported it decreased by 11, compared to for the preliminary vote that was held at the UN a month ago.

Netanyahu mentioned that in the resolution passed at the United Nations last month, the Palestinians had an absolute majority of the member states of the United Nations that supported their initiative.

"After our intervention, 11 countries changed the way they voted and as a result the formations were reversed - those who supported the Palestinian initiative became a minority of all the members of the United Nations.

I would like to thank President Yitzhak Herzog, Israel's ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan and his staff, and the people of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their cooperation. We will continue to fight for the truth."
