Today, an earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale shook southwestern Afghanistan.
Xinhua quoted the US Geological Survey as saying, "The epicenter of the tremor occurred at a depth of 786.193 kilometers, at 36.4922 degrees north latitude and 70.7018 degrees east longitude."
There were no reports of injuries or material damage.
