But now the topic is back on the agenda of the Wolfratshausen city council.

Mayor Heilinglechner has announced that the city council should think about a parking garage near the old town.

Those plans were actually passé.

Wolfratshausen – In its first meeting of the new year, the city council will deal with a long-running issue: According to the head of the city hall, Klaus Heilinglechner (citizens' association), the revised parking space concept will be presented to the public in mid-February.

In addition, according to the mayor, the elected officials have to think again about building a central parking garage in Loisachstadt.

If you take a look at the draft budget for 2023, the Hatzplatz is an option.

Parking in Wolfratshausen: Parking garage at Hatzplatz is discussed again

The city council had already agreed on the location near the equipment house of the voluntary fire brigade in Wolfratshausen ten years ago - after a long wrangling.

In 2012, the decision was made to build a multi-storey car park just outside the old town.

The project turned into a political tragedy.

It initially took a full five years for the project to take concrete shape, at least on paper.

Especially against the background of the planned upgrading of the old town and the planned redesign of the western bank of the Loisach.

Both construction measures fall victim to car parking spaces - which are to be compensated for by a central multi-storey car park.

Last but not least, numerous tradespeople in the city center and the association Lebendige Altstadt Wolfratshausen (LAW) insist on this.

Multi-storey car park at Hatzplatz: In 2017 there were already plans for new parking spaces in the old town

At the end of 2017, the goal for the city of Wolfratshausen seemed within reach.

The city council leased part of the hatzplatz to the specially founded Parkhaus Wolfratshausen (PaWo) GmbH und Co. KG in Bad Tölz.

The task for the GmbH, which was willing to fulfill it: The construction and operation of a multi-storey car park for 150 cars.

A good year later, PaWo presented a first draft of the building.

This met with vehement opposition from the city council's building committee.

For Fritz Schnalker (SPD), the visualized functional building looked “like a shoe box”, Günther Eibl (CSU) was reminded of the “Chernobyl sarcophagus”.

Green City Councilor Dr.

Hans Schmidt even questioned the decision completely, because: "In times of climate change, such a multi-storey car park seems to have fallen out of time."

Mayor announces: "We are talking about a central parking garage near the old town"

In view of this general political climate, the PaWo ignored the building rights that they had on their side and slimmed down their design.

But the second version of the Tölzer was not well received in Wolfratshausen.

A short time later, City Hall boss Heilinglechner revealed when asked by our newspaper: "The investor has withdrawn his building application." What's more: PaWo "apparently has the feeling that the multi-storey car park is not wanted".

The city agreed with the investor behind closed doors on "financial compensation for expenses" and the cancellation of the long-term lease.

It is rumored that the termination of the contract cost the municipality a six-figure sum.

The mayor does not comment on this.

However, he emphasizes that the city has acquired all rights to the planning of the PaWo.

In an interview with our newspaper shortly before the turn of the year, the mayor announced that the parking garage issue would again be on the city council's agenda.

When asked about the location - Hatzplatz or on Hammerschmiedweg, behind the Sparkasse building - he answered evasively: "We're talking about a central car park near the old town."

New car park in Wolfratshausen: Mayor wants at least 100 new parking spaces

The fact that the city council wants to deal with the development of the Hatzplatz again is proven by a statement by Thomas Wenig from the city hall's building and real estate department.

When the budget draft for 2023 was presented by Treasurer Peter Schöfmann in the most recent city council meeting, Little explained a planned expenditure of 25,000 euros when asked by the Greens group.

According to Little, the money is earmarked for a "detailed examination" of the hatzplatz with a view of a multi-storey car park.

“What could we do there?” the town hall employee said literally.

It doesn't matter where something is done: For the mayor of Wolfratshausen, Heilinglechner, it definitely has to be a multi-storey car park for 100 to 120 cars.
