Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, by phone today, the situation in both Syria and Ukraine.

And a statement by the Kremlin, reported by Russia Today, said: During the call, prospects for resolving the crisis in Syria were discussed, and a positive evaluation was given to the meeting of the defense ministers of Syria, Turkey and Russia, which was held in Moscow in December 2022, with the participation of the heads of the intelligence services in the three countries.

The statement pointed out that developing contacts in this tripartite format would contribute to a radical improvement of the situation in Syria, including restoring its territorial integrity, resolving the refugee problem and combating international terrorist structures.

According to the statement, President Putin referred to the destructive role of the West in pumping and supplying Ukraine with weapons, stressing Russia's openness to serious dialogue, provided that the Kyiv authorities fulfill what is known and repeated, and Kyiv takes into account the new regional realities.

Putin also stressed the need to remove barriers to Russian exports when considering the validity of the Istanbul agreements of July 2022 regarding the export of Ukrainian grain and the abolition of the embargo on food and fertilizer supplies from Russia. The need for a comprehensive and conscious approach was emphasized, which means removing all barriers to Russia.

According to the statement, the two sides indicated the priority importance of joint projects such as the establishment of a gas center in Turkey, where issues of further expansion of trade and economic relations, especially in the energy sector, were discussed.
