According to a risk analysis, the Arab airlines Ethiad and Emirates were the safest in 2022.
The death toll also fell compared to 2021.
Aviation is slowly but surely recovering from the corona pandemic.
The number of passengers continues to rise worldwide - despite the increased prices for a ticket.
In addition to the price, many travelers also care about the safety of the airline.
In 2022, Ehtiad was ahead in this ranking.
In 2021, the Arab airline was not included in the risk analysis by the Hamburg flight accident office Jacdec.
Last year's winner Emirates came in second, followed by KLM, JetBlue and the British low-cost airline Easyjet.
In the ranking of the 25 companies with the highest traffic performance, Lufthansa only occupies 14th place. Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines is particularly popular.

The Arab airlines Ethiad and Emirates are benefiting from their comparatively young aircraft fleets.
That's according to the report published in the February issue of aviation magazine
Aero International
.
Meanwhile, the Russian airline Aeroflot was downgraded to 25th place because of the attack on Ukraine.
Safety-related reasons for the devaluation included the illegal registration of Western leasing jets on the Russian register and the supply of spare parts in Russia, which was interrupted by economic sanctions.

The Jadec Risk Index is based on airline accident history over the past 30 years, as well as country-specific environment and risk factors.
However, Ethiad and Emirates also miss the best value of 100.
Also important: the number of passenger kilometers flown by the airlines.
The more of them are flown accident-free, the safer the airline is rated in the ranking.
Risk analysis: Finnair is the safest airline in Europe
Among the busiest operators in Europe, Finnair achieved the highest index value, followed by KLM and Transavia.
Eurowings took eighth place and the holiday airline Condor twelfth.
Lufthansa is ranked 15th in this traffic region.

Risk analysis: Fewer fatalities than 2021
The crash of a China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-800 on March 21 near the southern Chinese city of Wuzhou was named as the worst accident of 2022.
None of the 132 people on board survived the accident.
According to Jadec, there were a total of 19 accidents in which 233 people died.
That was 60 more deaths than in 2021, when significantly less was flown due to the pandemic.
The average for the past ten years is 372 deaths.

The Federal Association of the German Aviation Industry (BDL) comes up with slightly different definitions of the aircraft size taken into account twelve accidents with 205 fatalities.
The association explains that the probability of dying during a flight is becoming lower and lower.
In the 1970s, statistically, there was one fatality for every 264,000 passengers, but now there was only one victim among almost 16 million passengers.
Compared to the 1970s, flying was 59 times safer in 2022.
