Russia refused to discuss the reports of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons on Syria in the UN Security Council, stressing that they are completely similar and did not bring any added value to the “chemical file” in Syria.
This came in the speech of Dmitry Polyansky, the first deputy representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations today, according to the Russian Novosti Agency.
Polyansky said: “These reports repeat the information contained in them as if they were exact copies of each other, and they have not yet brought any added value to the Syrian chemical file.”
Polyansky had confirmed earlier that the Syrian government does not bear responsibility for the lack of any progress on the ground in the “chemical file,” pointing out that this responsibility lies precisely with “the technical secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, which stubbornly does not want to correct its line.”
