PREVIEW Urban development and flood protection are at the top of the agenda in 2023
Tegernsee – How and where should Tegernsee develop in the future?
Mayor Johannes Hagn (CSU) and the city councilors are not only focusing on this in 2023. It is also about arming Tegernsee for climate change as quickly as possible - for example with a plan against flash floods caused by heavy rain.
flood
There are currently only two municipalities in the Miesbach district that have decided to enter a state-sponsored program to create flash flood risk management: Weyarn and Tegernsee.
For the head of the city, Johannes Hagn, it is a top priority that Tegernsee prepares itself against the consequences of heavy rain events and flooding.
During the project, experts carry out an inventory analysis, then dangers and risks are identified and assessed, and finally suitable measures are developed.
The goal is a digital terrain model of the city and a water risk map, which each individual homeowner can use to assess their risk and take specific precautionary measures.
"The hydraulic calculations will start soon," explains Hagn, speaking of the division into two areas:
Tegernsee North and Tegernsee South.
“We have 17 torrents in Tegernsee.
We want to know what happens to the masses of water that flow from the slopes into the valley when it rains heavily.” As soon as the results are available, there will be information events for citizens in the two large areas of the city.
In anticipation, Tegernsee had already determined the following: for new buildings, five meters must remain free on both sides of a torrent.
"We take it very seriously," adds Hagn.

urban development
The basic development of the city, which has a large number of listed buildings, will also be a top priority in Tegernsee.
Above all, the areas around the train station and the central car park are examined more closely here.
"In order to create sensible planning, we initiated a municipal monument concept," reports Hagn.
“Historical protection has always been perceived as a major brake.
We want to approach this differently now, because the monument protection also provides guidelines on how the place can be developed.
This gives our place a face.” There should also be information events for the citizens on this topic.
The aim should also be a local design statute for certain areas.
You want to get tools and a feeling for areas - "and legally secure".
housing and energy
The city wants to continue with the renovation of its homes.
"But we also want to acquire more living space." Tegernsee wants to make progress with regard to the energy transition.
The solar park on the "Amerikanerwiese" on the Leeberg, for which the city council had only spoken out in principle in November (we reported), should make progress in terms of its feasibility.
"Of course there are many different opinions on this," says Hagn.
He assumes that results will be available in 2023 and can be presented to the city council.
After the fire station, a mega-project that will probably cost around 16.2 million euros and which Hagn also expects to be completed in 2023, the next major project is to be tackled: the new building of the building yard.
"Here we want to knock over the first dominoes," announces the mayor.
anniversaries
There will be at least three big celebrations in 2023: The fire brigade will be 150 years old, the Tegernseer Woche will take place for the 50th time in 2023 (from September 21st to October 1st), the mountain film festival (October 18th to 22nd) will be in its 20th year .round.
