Four years ago, a Pakistani-born man stole two cans of beer from a convenience store in Yuen Long and fled. He was chased by a sixty-year-old clerk.
The clerk fell in the chaos, and Bahan waded and kicked the clerk on the ground before fleeing the scene.
The clerk was taken to hospital where he suffered head trauma and died two days later.
Bahan denied one count of murder and the case was heard in the High Court today (5th).
It was revealed in the court that after Bahan was arrested, he originally denied any involvement in the incident, but later changed his claim to stealing beer, but was chased by the clerk.
The clerk spoke foul language to him and scolded him with discriminatory words, so he pushed the clerk down and then kicked him twice.
The defendant, Javed Iqbal ISLAM, 30 years old, is a Hong Kong resident.
He is accused of murdering Deng Zhongqiang (61 years old) on December 30, 2019.

The prosecution's opening statement stated that the defendant went to a convenience store on Chik Rang Road, Yuen Long at 9:00 p.m. on December 28, 2019, to steal two cans of beer and then fled.
Deng, a part-time shop assistant, chased the defendant. At that time, another female shop assistant chased him, but she failed to catch up.
Passers-by saw the defendant chasing Deng
Later, a passer-by witnessed that the defendant chased Deng for a while, and Deng fell down on Anning Road and was kicked by the defendant.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, Deng was lying unconscious on the ground, bleeding from his mouth and nose.
Deng was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital for emergency treatment and died two days later.
According to the forensic doctor, Deng's death was caused by head trauma.
It was only after the third meeting that the video was recorded that it was related to the incident
The defendant was arrested on the 29th of the same month. He warned that the incident had nothing to do with him.
In the first two video interviews, he denied that he had been to the convenience store where the crime occurred, and he also denied stealing beer.
It was not until the third video meeting that he changed his statement, saying that he was chased by Deng after stealing beer in a convenience store. Deng swears at him and scolded him with discriminatory words. Pushed Deng down, but Deng who fell to the ground still swears at the defendant. The defendant claimed that he was provoked and kicked Deng twice, and kicked Deng on the forehead.
The defendant denies murdering Deng, but says he regrets the incident.
