The news of the death of German ski legend Rosi Mittermaier has deeply affected many people.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Rosi Mittermaier is dead. The news shocked numerous people on Thursday morning, January 5, and not only ski fans were deeply affected.

"Gold-Rosi", as the 72-year-old was affectionately known, was born in 1950 in the Bavarian community of Reit im Winkl, district of Traunstein, and died on January 4 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Ever since winning double gold at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, she has been considered a German skiing icon.
