The Regensburg fire brigade was called to an extraordinary animal rescue on Tuesday evening.
A young dog fell into the Danube and could not save herself.
Regensburg – On Tuesday evening, a dog owner in Regensburg experienced the shock of her life.
Her dog Luna, just eight months old, fell into the Danube.
The bitch could not reach the shore alone.
Therefore, the fire brigade came and was able to happily reunite mum and dog.

At around 6:40 p.m., the alarm message was received by the Regensburg professional fire brigade.
Animal rescue on the Danube was the wording.
At the level of the House of Bavarian History, the eight-month-old bitch Luna fell into the adjacent river.
However, since ships often dock at this point, the shore runs almost vertically upwards.
So the bitch could not save herself from the icy waters.
Pedestrians tended to the animal until the fire department arrived.
They kept Luna afloat with a lifeline and a lifebelt.
With this equipment, which is kept on the Marc-Aurel-Ufer for such emergencies, they were able to save the bitch from drowning, according to the fire department on Facebook.

Firefighter climbs into the Danube with a diving suit
When the fire brigade arrived on site, a helper with a dry suit made his way to the injured dog.
The water in the Danube was around seven degrees at the time.
It goes on to say: "After a short time, the exhausted bitch could be pulled onto a stretcher and lifted out of the water.
The fire brigade boat, which was also alarmed, was no longer used.”
After 15 minutes of use it was done and Luna again exhausted but happy with her relieved owner.
To warm up a bit, the dog was wrapped in a blanket and taken to the warm fire engine.
The fire brigade sums it up aptly at the end of their post on Facebook: "This evening walk will certainly be remembered by everyone involved for a long time to come."
