FDP leader Christian Lindner is against the idea of a basic state inheritance for the 18th birthday.
He doesn't think that's a good idea, said Lindner at the traditional Epiphany meeting of the FDP in Stuttgart.
Instead, one should invest in the education of young people.
In order to support his point of view, he compared his speech to Kürsat Yildirim, who calls himself "Chico" and won over nine million euros in the lottery in September.
Lindner said: "The lottery millionaire Chico has shown that you can also raise significantly larger sums if you have no education."
And then added seriously: »For that to really make a difference, we need an additional billion in education every year in the next few years.«
During his speech at the Stuttgart Opera, Lindner was also asked to act as a spontaneous sparring partner for climate activists who had interrupted his speech.
They rose from their seats on the gallery, sang "We shall overcome" and unfurled banners.
One bore the inscription "Climate collapse = economic collapse."
On the other was written: 'Better not to govern than wrong.
So speed limit immediately.« Lindner commented on the action with the words: »This is my offer to you now: stick tight, use a lot of glue, because if you stick here, you can’t hinder anyone else.«
