A deadly fire broke out in Tai Wai Mei Lam Estate.
Today (6th) at 5:46 in the morning, a unit on the 26th floor of Meihuai Building in Meilin Village burst into flames, causing 1 death and 6 injuries, including a 15-year-old girl.
During the incident, firefighters assisted 30 residents on different floors to escape, and another 50 residents evacuated to a safe location by themselves.
Ms. Shi, who lived on the 23rd floor, heard the fire alarm at 5:00 a.m. and immediately took her four cats to escape.
She pointed out that because the fire alarm bell kept ringing at that time, the cats were so frightened that they were "so shocked that they refused to put them in the bag". It took about 10 minutes to put them into the pet bag.
She hugged her 4 cats and took half an hour to evacuate from the 23rd floor to the underground, describing it as "it was so difficult to get to the bottom (underground)".
Ms. Shi also mentioned that due to the different directions between her unit and the unit involved, and the fact that the floors are separated by a distance, she only smelled a little 𤓓 smell.
