A fatal traffic accident occurred in Tai Wai last night (5th). A 91-year-old man surnamed Ho was knocked down by a taxi and died of head injuries.

The police arrested the 54-year-old male taxi driver on suspicion of "dangerous driving causing death". The cause of the incident is currently being investigated.

"Hong Kong 01" today (6th) got in touch with Granny Cao, the eighty-year-old girlfriend who lived with the deceased for 10 years. She told reporters that He Yuanjie (transliteration) was admitted to the hospital due to a car accident, but did not know the latest situation.

Granny Cao then narrated He Yuanjie's life experience: the People's Republic of China was formally established in 1949, He joined the Communist Party in 1950, joined the Chinese People's Volunteers in the same year, and participated in the Korean War.

After Ho retired from the military, he has been doing casual labor, selling chopped green onions, and snow bars to make a living. His situation was not satisfactory. In his later years, he suspected that he was unhappy because he had not received the medal for resisting US aggression and aiding Korea.

In the 80s, Grandma Cao and Bo He lived together in a unit in Xincui Village, Dawei for about 10 years. The reporter saw a group photo of the two dancing in the unit, and asked about their relationship.

Granny Cao said that the two are not married, nor are they in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, they just live in a public housing arranged by the government.

Granny Cao described Uncle Ho as a loyal and honest person, and said that "everyone likes him very much." She said that she learned that Uncle Ho was injured in a car accident yesterday and was sent to the hospital, but she did not know the latest situation.

Granny Cao couldn't help crying as she talked, and she told about He Bo (He Yuanjie, transliteration)'s life experience.

She pointed out that the People's Republic of China was officially established in 1949, and He Yuanjie joined the Communist Party in 1950, joined the People's Volunteers in the same year, and participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

Ho retired from the military in 1957 and has been doing casual labor, selling chopped green onions and riding a bicycle to sell snow sticks to make a living. The situation is not satisfactory.

As far as Grandma Cao knew, Uncle He had children, but they were all in the Mainland.

Grandma Cao said frankly that Uncle He is not worth it: "(Uncle He) has contributed to the country, but the country has nothing to do with him, and there is nothing at that time, and nothing at all... Killing life and death, and now in trouble, there is nothing like that. thing."

Grandma Cao recalled that Uncle He noticed last year that the mainland had awarded medals to veterans who fought against US aggression and aid Korea. As far as she knew, Uncle He had inquired with the relevant authorities, but he suspected that the medals were not issued due to household registration issues. Whether he is happy or not, he has no medals, everyone has."

Granny Cao pointed out that Uncle He was depressed in his later years because he was not awarded a medal, "He once said, 'I don't ask for anything, I just want a medal'."

Granny Cao said that she and Bo He lived in a unit in Xincui Village, Dawei for about 10 years.
