The police stated that after investigation by relevant department personnel, it is not ruled out that the battery of the electric unicycle (commonly known as "Hot Wheels") caught fire and caused the fire.

The case was handed over to the second team of the serious crime unit of the Sha Tin Police District for follow-up.

About 100 residents were evacuated in the incident.

At about 1:30 p.m., the workers moved the body of the deceased to the mortuary.

Sources at the scene said that the body was severely charred, curled up, with fists clenched in both hands.

The unit that started the fire was burned, and the staff of the government laboratory conducted an investigation inside.

The fire department explained the case earlier, pointing out that a combustion accelerant was found in the fire unit, and the fire spread quickly, which was unusual, and believed that the cause of the fire was suspicious.

Staff from the Forensics Division and the Government Laboratory also entered the burning unit in the afternoon to investigate the cause of the fire; the police confiscated a "Hot Wheels" inside the unit.
