As of 7:00 p.m., Mrs. Zhang and Mrs. Mak were still in hospital in serious condition; the other four wounded, one male and three females aged between 10 and 63, had all been discharged from the hospital.
The police stated that after investigation by relevant department personnel, it is not ruled out that the battery of the electric unicycle (commonly known as "Hot Wheels") caught fire and caused the fire.
The case was handed over to the second team of the serious crime unit of the Sha Tin Police District for follow-up.
The police seized a "Hot Wheels" at the scene of the fatal fire in Meihuai Building, Meilin Village. It is not ruled out that its battery caught fire and caused the fire.

The unit that started the fire was burned, and the staff of the government laboratory conducted an investigation inside.
The fire department explained the case earlier, pointing out that a combustion accelerant was found in the fire unit, and the fire spread quickly, which was unusual, and believed that the cause of the fire was suspicious.
