The bodies of two babies were found in an apartment in Rumilly (Haute-Savoie) during an intervention by the gendarmerie, the Annecy prosecutor said on Friday.
According to Le Dauphine Libéré, which revealed the information, the discovery took place on Sunday in the home of a family after an alarming call from the mother for help.
A seal placed on the door reported an intervention on January 1 for "aggravated voluntary homicide", noted AFP.
However, at this stage, no judicial investigation has been opened, said prosecutor Line Bonnet-Mathis, who did not wish to give more details, pending a press release later in the day.
The regional daily affirms that the bodies were found in a state of skeleton for one and mummified for the other.
