The biggest games of 2023 (Gaming Channel)

A new year has begun and we are here to look at all the biggest games of the year.

Note that the first three months are particularly busy, but right after that we have a decline with a lot of big titles that we don't yet know when exactly we'll get to play (I'm looking your way, Spider-Man 2 and pretty much all Xbox games).

Let's not waste time, we have a lot to do.

January: opening the year

January 12: One Piece Odyssey

One of the most popular and successful manga and anime of all time is getting a new role-playing game.

You will play Luffy and together with The Straw Hat Pirates you will explore open areas and dungeons.

Each of the characters will have special abilities that will help you solve puzzles, navigate the map and collect new equipment.

Bandai Namco, the distributor, promises to deliver a gaming experience that matches the spirit of the brand, and fans really won't want to miss this game.

January 20: Fire Emblem Engage

Nintendo's tactical RPG series returns with a new title.

The gameplay will be the same as the old titles, but this time you will be able to summon lords from previous games such as Marth.

January 24: Forspoken

An open-world action role-playing game from Square Enix that emphasizes spells and magical parkour to navigate the map.

We will play a young New York woman named Frey who is introduced to a beautiful and dangerous world named Athea, and will have to learn to use the magical powers that have awakened in her to try to find the way back home.

The demo of the game is already available for download in the Sony store.

January 27: The remake of Dead Space

If last month we got The Callisto Protocol which is considered a spiritual sequel, this month we get the remake of the real thing.

The first game in the series of horror games receives a modern overhaul that will make the experience we received in the generation of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 even more terrifying.

February 24: Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe

March 3: The Last of Us Part I for PC

If we wondered why Sony bothered to develop a remake of a game less than a decade old, then the answer is that it probably really wanted the money of the computer players, and this remake was mainly intended for them.

Sony until now is known for polished and great versions on PC as well, and we expect The Last of Us Part I to meet the same standards.

March 3: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Straight from the creator of Nioh and Team Ninja comes a gritty action-RPG title that will make the Souls games seem a lot less intimidating.

The game takes place in a fantasy universe during the Chinese Three Kingdoms period, and portrays a nameless soldier in battles against demons and menacing monsters.

Unlike the Nioh series, players will be able to jump, which will add another dimension to map exploration.

March 9: Skull and Bones

If there's one thing Ubisoft knows how to do amazingly, it's recycling.

Ever since Assassin's Creed Black Flag where players raved about its pirate gameplay, and especially the mechanics of naval battles on ships - Ubisoft has made sure to recycle these mechanics in about every Assassin's Creed game.

Then Skull and Bones was announced, and it was hard not to make the comparison.

Even Ubisoft admitted that its development started as a sequel to Black Flag.

You know how Ubisoft's slogan goes: why innovate when you can recycle?

March 17: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

The sequel to Fallen Order in the Star Wars universe.

The plot will take place about five years after the end of the previous game and the players will return to play the Jedi Kal Castis who tries to survive the attacks of the Galactic Empire after Order 66 came into effect, calling for the destruction of all the Jedi Knights in the galaxy.

The light cyber battles will be more diverse than ever in the new game and the players will have several new fighting styles and a wider use of force.

March 24: Resident Evil 4

After the success of the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, now it is the turn of the fourth title in the series to have its own innovation that will adapt the gameplay to more modern times.

The players will play Leon who is sent to search for the home of the US president, Ashley, who was kidnapped by a cult in Spain. This is one of the most influential games of the 2000s that inspired so many other familiar titles, such as Bioshock or even The Last of Us.

Perhaps Nintendo's biggest and most anticipated game this year, and probably also the last big title for the old Nintendo Switch console.

Nintendo has kept a wireless silence when it comes to the project, and the plot of the game is not yet completely clear.

The trailers show a number of new and strange abilities that the players will be able to use, and above the Hyrule map there are new areas in the game sky that the players will be able to explore.

May 26: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

A sequel to Batman's Arkham series, and for a change we won't play Batman (or his sidekicks) but the Suicide Squad.

Players will be able to play as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark sent to the city of Metropolis to stop the brainwashed Justice League at the hands of the alien and Superman's enemy - Brainiac.

According to developer Rocksteady, we will be able to play any of the four team members and switch between them all at any given moment.

You can also play the narrative campaign alone or in co-op mode with up to four players.

It would also be the last time the late Kevin Conroy would voice the character of Batman.

June: Three huge brands return in sequel titles

June 2: Street Fighter 6

This iconic beat game doesn't really need to be introduced.

The new title will contain three main game modes: Fighting Ground which will be considered a local and online battle mode (in addition to arcade modes).

World Tour, which will consider the single player mode in which the players have created their own character and for the first time in the series will explore open world maps with a variety of activities (and battles) that are very frankly reminiscent of the Yakuza series.

June 6: Diablo IV

After a not-so-good period of outrage, constant criticism and terrible scandals, Blizzard returns to us with renewed strength (we hope) with the fourth title in the immortal action-role series.

The game will present some classics that we already knew in the previous games: barbarian, sorcerer, droid, rogue and necromancer.

The game will introduce for the first time an open world and possibilities to fight against other players (PVP) online.

And of course the most important: Blizzard promised that the game will not sell "loot boxes".

June 22: Final Fantasy XVI

The iconic, successful, best-selling role-playing series is back with its 16th title!

The game will feature battles in wide open environments and the use of magic against huge monsters.

Players will play Prince Clive Rossfield, on a quest to find his lost brother in the kingdom of Bolysthea, while it is at war with the six different kingdoms.

Spider-Man 2: Fall 2023

One of Sony's biggest games this year is expected to arrive in the fall.

We still don't know too much beyond Lunum who appears in the trailer, but the internet is convinced that we will also see Kraven the Hunter.

There is also a rumor that the plot will follow the two Spider-Mans at the same time, and we can switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

EA FC Sports: Probably in September-October

Put aside for a moment the outrage and criticism of EA and its well-oiled gambling and pay-to-win machine.

Even if you're not a soccer fan (admittedly, I'm not) you can't help but be intrigued by what EA will bring next year now that it and FIFA are parting ways. EA FC Sports is going to be the gaming giant's first game without the license from the soccer organization, and it's an explosively intriguing situation The management at EA has already declared that FIFA has "tied their hands" in terms of innovations and marketing methods, and rumors have already begun to emerge that the game will become free this year.

Not the most realistic, but one can hope.

Alan Wake 2

The great company Remedy is back with a sequel title to their horror game from 2010. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon

Forza Motorsport

The eighth game in the Forza series, and just like with Horizon we are exposed to crazy and breathtaking graphics that squeeze the capabilities of the Series X to the limit.

The developers claim that this is the most advanced racing game that will use Ray Tracing technology in real time.

The game was revealed last summer and we got a glimpse of particularly impressive gameplay captured in one shot.

There we were exposed to the weather change in real time, the spectacular reflections on the vehicles or the mirrors, and the unique and detailed damage system for the vehicles.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl

The Ukrainian survival-horror shooter that presents us with an alternate reality where Chernobyl 2 took place, and mutants and other horrific biological creatures arose from the remains of the disaster.

You will step into the shoes of Stalker - who are known as nomads who explore the remains of the radiation zone and what is left of the world.

The game was supposed to come to us back in 2022, but was delayed for this year due to Russia's war on Ukraine.
