Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy, the Zelda sequel, Star Wars, Skyrim in space and the launch of Sony's PS VR 2. Expect a busy year

The biggest games of 2023 (Gaming Channel)

A new year has begun and we are here to look at all the biggest games of the year.

Note that the first three months are particularly busy, but right after that we have a decline with a lot of big titles that we don't yet know when exactly we'll get to play (I'm looking your way, Spider-Man 2 and pretty much all Xbox games).

Let's not waste time, we have a lot to do.

January: opening the year

January 12: One Piece Odyssey

One of the most popular and successful manga and anime of all time is getting a new role-playing game.

You will play Luffy and together with The Straw Hat Pirates you will explore open areas and dungeons.

Each of the characters will have special abilities that will help you solve puzzles, navigate the map and collect new equipment.

Bandai Namco, the distributor, promises to deliver a gaming experience that matches the spirit of the brand, and fans really won't want to miss this game.

Will be released for PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Xbox Series X\S and PC.

January 20: Fire Emblem Engage

Nintendo's tactical RPG series returns with a new title.

The gameplay will be the same as the old titles, but this time you will be able to summon lords from previous games such as Marth.

Will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch console.

January 24: Forspoken

An open-world action role-playing game from Square Enix that emphasizes spells and magical parkour to navigate the map.

We will play a young New York woman named Frey who is introduced to a beautiful and dangerous world named Athea, and will have to learn to use the magical powers that have awakened in her to try to find the way back home.

The demo of the game is already available for download in the Sony store.

Will be released for PC and PlayStation 5.

January 27: The remake of Dead Space

If last month we got The Callisto Protocol which is considered a spiritual sequel, this month we get the remake of the real thing.

The first game in the series of horror games receives a modern overhaul that will make the experience we received in the generation of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 even more terrifying.

Will be released for PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Xbox Series X\S and PC.

worth mentioning...

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

will arrive on next-generation consoles - the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on January 13.

Monster Hunter Rise

, which has been available until now for Nintendo Switch, will arrive on January 20 for PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox SeriesX\S.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition

will arrive on Xbox One and Series X\S consoles on January 31st.

The new

SpongeBob SquarePants game, The Cosmic Shake

, will be released on January 31 for the PC, and for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch consoles.

February: full of good things

February 10: Hogwarts Legacy

The game Harry Potter fans have been dreaming of all these years.

You will create your own character and go to a year of studies at Hogwarts School of Wizardry.

You will meet familiar characters from the history of Hogwarts, you can attend classes, learn spells and spells, participate in wizard battles and even train magical animals.

The open world map can be explored on foot or on a flying broom, and it is not limited to Hogwarts.

You can also visit the nearby cities and areas from the books such as the Forbidden Forest.

Will be released for the PlayStation 5 consoles, the Xbox Series X\S and the PC.

February 17: Wild Hearts

EA's action role-playing game in a fantasy world inspired by feudal Japan.

The gameplay combines several styles and it seems that in addition to the battles against huge monsters from games like Monster Hunter, the players also get the ability to build structures that will help them during the battles.

Whether it's platforms that will help you gain height, or whether it's a catapult that will help you defeat your opponent.

Will be released for the PlayStation 5 consoles, the Xbox Series X\S and the PC.

February 21: Like a Dragon: Ishin!

A remake of the 2014 game originally released for PlayStation 3 and 4 and a spin-off of the iconic Yakuza series.

Players will have several different combat options: using a katana, weapons, melee combat, or a combination of all three.

The remake will give a complete overhaul to the entire game and present it to the western audience for the first time.

Will be released for the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Xbox Series X\S, and the PC.

February 21: Atomic Heart

A particularly intriguing title that looks like a combination of Bioshock, Fallout and STALKER.

will contain elements of action-role and the plot of the game will present a parallel reality in which the Soviet Union defeated Nazi Germany using a sophisticated robot army.

Will be released for PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Xbox Series X\S and PC.

February 22: Horizon Call of the Mountain

Sony's launch title for its new virtual reality platform: the PS VR 2, which will be released on the same day.

In Call of the Mountain, the players will play Rias - a warrior and rebel from the Shadow Carja clan, and will meet familiar characters from the Horizon universe, such as Aloy, the heroine of the games.

Will be released exclusively for PlayStation 5 and the PS VR 2 platform.

February 24: Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe

A remake of the platform game originally released for the Wii console starring Nintendo's pink block.

The new version will contain a new ability, different graphics and art style, and a new game mode.

Will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch console.

worth mentioning...

Deliver Us Mars

- for the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, for Xbox Series X\S, and for the personal computer.

Will be released on February 2nd.

Wanted: Dead

- for the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Xbox Series X\S, and the PC.

Will be released on February 14th.

Company of Heroes 3

- for PC.

Will be released on February 23rd.

Octopath Traveler II

- for PlayStation 4, and 5, for Nintendo Switch and for PC.

Will talk on February 24.

The games

Fantavision 202X, Moss, Moss Book 2 and Zenith: The Last City

will also come to PlayStation 5 and the PS VR 2 platform on February 22.

March: a busy month for the relaxation

March 3: The Last of Us Part I for PC

If we wondered why Sony bothered to develop a remake of a game less than a decade old, then the answer is that it probably really wanted the money of the computer players, and this remake was mainly intended for them.

Sony until now is known for polished and great versions on PC as well, and we expect The Last of Us Part I to meet the same standards.

You can read our review of the PlayStation 5 version here, and our reviews of the other PC versions of Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and God of War can be read here.

Will be released on Steam and Epic platforms.

March 3: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Straight from the creator of Nioh and Team Ninja comes a gritty action-RPG title that will make the Souls games seem a lot less intimidating.

The game takes place in a fantasy universe during the Chinese Three Kingdoms period, and portrays a nameless soldier in battles against demons and menacing monsters.

Unlike the Nioh series, players will be able to jump, which will add another dimension to map exploration.

Will be released for the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Xbox Series X\S, and the PC.

March 9: Skull and Bones

If there's one thing Ubisoft knows how to do amazingly, it's recycling.

Ever since Assassin's Creed Black Flag where players raved about its pirate gameplay, and especially the mechanics of naval battles on ships - Ubisoft has made sure to recycle these mechanics in about every Assassin's Creed game.

Then Skull and Bones was announced, and it was hard not to make the comparison.

Even Ubisoft admitted that its development started as a sequel to Black Flag.

You know how Ubisoft's slogan goes: why innovate when you can recycle?

Will be released for the PlayStation 5 consoles, the Xbox Series X\S and the PC.

March 17: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

The sequel to Fallen Order in the Star Wars universe.

The plot will take place about five years after the end of the previous game and the players will return to play the Jedi Kal Castis who tries to survive the attacks of the Galactic Empire after Order 66 came into effect, calling for the destruction of all the Jedi Knights in the galaxy.

The light cyber battles will be more diverse than ever in the new game and the players will have several new fighting styles and a wider use of force.

Will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X\S, and PC.

March 24: Resident Evil 4

After the success of the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, now it is the turn of the fourth title in the series to have its own innovation that will adapt the gameplay to more modern times.

The players will play Leon who is sent to search for the home of the US president, Ashley, who was kidnapped by a cult in Spain. This is one of the most influential games of the 2000s that inspired so many other familiar titles, such as Bioshock or even The Last of Us.

Will be released for PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Xbox Series X\S and PC.

worth mentioning...

The indie game

Sifu

is finally coming to Xbox and the Steam platform on PC this month.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon

will be released on the Nintendo Switch console on March 17.

Crime Boss: Rockay City

will be released on PC on March 28th.

The

remake of System Shock

, the game that was originally released in 1994 and considered revolutionary and influential in its time, is also expected to arrive during the month of March.

Currently no specific date.

The game has been in development for several years and has had ups and downs.

At some point even the development stopped, and came back.

and stopped and returned.

And this is even before the corona epidemic which did not help the whole process.

It has been delayed several times over the years, and we hope that the game will be released on time (and properly) without further delays.

April: Time to complete games from previous months

April 28: Dead Island 2

The game has been in development for almost a decade, and has already changed several different keys since it started the process.

A little worrying, but we still hope the sequel to the iconic zombie series delivers the goods.

The plot of the game will take place this time in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and the players will meet a mountain selection of new zombies that they can spray with a selection of new weapons.

Will be released for PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Xbox Series X\S and PC.

And of course we didn't forget

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of

Hogwarts Legacy

will be released on April 4.

The Mega Man Battle Network

collection of games will also

arrive on PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on April 14.

May: the month of Zelda and Batman

May 12: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Perhaps Nintendo's biggest and most anticipated game this year, and probably also the last big title for the old Nintendo Switch console.

Nintendo has kept a wireless silence when it comes to the project, and the plot of the game is not yet completely clear.

The trailers show a number of new and strange abilities that the players will be able to use, and above the Hyrule map there are new areas in the game sky that the players will be able to explore.

Will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch console.

May 26: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

A sequel to Batman's Arkham series, and for a change we won't play Batman (or his sidekicks) but the Suicide Squad.

Players will be able to play as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark sent to the city of Metropolis to stop the brainwashed Justice League at the hands of the alien and Superman's enemy - Brainiac.

According to developer Rocksteady, we will be able to play any of the four team members and switch between them all at any given moment.

You can also play the narrative campaign alone or in co-op mode with up to four players.

It would also be the last time the late Kevin Conroy would voice the character of Batman.

Will be released for the PlayStation 5 consoles, the Xbox Series X\S and the PC.

June: Three huge brands return in sequel titles

June 2: Street Fighter 6

This iconic beat game doesn't really need to be introduced.

The new title will contain three main game modes: Fighting Ground which will be considered a local and online battle mode (in addition to arcade modes).

World Tour, which will consider the single player mode in which the players have created their own character and for the first time in the series will explore open world maps with a variety of activities (and battles) that are very frankly reminiscent of the Yakuza series.

The third and final mode is the Battle Hub which will function as an online lobby, but no new details have been given yet.

Will be released for PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Xbox Series X\S and PC.

June 6: Diablo IV

After a not-so-good period of outrage, constant criticism and terrible scandals, Blizzard returns to us with renewed strength (we hope) with the fourth title in the immortal action-role series.

The game will present some classics that we already knew in the previous games: barbarian, sorcerer, droid, rogue and necromancer.

The game will introduce for the first time an open world and possibilities to fight against other players (PVP) online.

And of course the most important: Blizzard promised that the game will not sell "loot boxes".

Only skins that will not affect the game experience.

Thanks Blizzard.

We have already received one Diablo Immortal.

Will be released for the PC, and the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, the Xbox One and the Series X\S.

June 22: Final Fantasy XVI

The iconic, successful, best-selling role-playing series is back with its 16th title!

The game will feature battles in wide open environments and the use of magic against huge monsters.

Players will play Prince Clive Rossfield, on a quest to find his lost brother in the kingdom of Bolysthea, while it is at war with the six different kingdoms.

Will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console.

Worth mentioning

The shooting game

RoboCop: Rogue City

is expected to be released during the month of June.

July-August heat: currently, dry.

The months of July-August in the summer are empty.

The Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy

is expected to be released on July 25.

Baldur's Gate III

is expected to be released for PC during the month of August.

what?

Is it over yet?

So no, not exactly.

These are the big games that have not yet received an exact date, but we know that they should reach us during the year, and we are just waiting for an announcement that claims otherwise.

Spider-Man 2: Fall 2023

One of Sony's biggest games this year is expected to arrive in the fall.

We still don't know too much beyond Lunum who appears in the trailer, but the internet is convinced that we will also see Kraven the Hunter.

There is also a rumor that the plot will follow the two Spider-Mans at the same time, and we can switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

Even during the battles.

Our bet on the system: we'll also be able to play Venom, similar to the Ultimate Spider-Man game from 2005.

If we were right: remember where you first read this.

if not?

Forget about it.

Will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console.

EA FC Sports: Probably in September-October

Put aside for a moment the outrage and criticism of EA and its well-oiled gambling and pay-to-win machine.

Even if you're not a soccer fan (admittedly, I'm not) you can't help but be intrigued by what EA will bring next year now that it and FIFA are parting ways. EA FC Sports is going to be the gaming giant's first game without the license from the soccer organization, and it's an explosively intriguing situation The management at EA has already declared that FIFA has "tied their hands" in terms of innovations and marketing methods, and rumors have already begun to emerge that the game will become free this year.

Not the most realistic, but one can hope.

Will probably be released as usual: for the PC, for the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, the Xbox One and the Series X\S.

Alan Wake 2

The great company Remedy is back with a sequel title to their horror game from 2010. According to Sam Lake (company president, game creator, and Max Payne's character in the first game in his own right) the game will be in the survival-horror genre as opposed to the first game, which contained more elements of action- terror.

Will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X\S, and PC on Epic platform only.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon

FromSoftware's new game that was considered during the last gaming awards ceremony and will focus on giant Mech battles.

Despite the genre of games that the developer is known for, creator Hitaka Miyazaki promised that this is not "another Souls game but with robots".

Will be released for the PC, and the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, the Xbox One and the Series X\S.

Assassin's Creed Mirage

Ubisoft returns with a new title in the series and this time the plot will focus on the character of Bassim, a thief from Baghdad who becomes a deadly assassin.

Biosoft claims to have learned the lessons from the titles of recent years such as Odyssey or Valhalla and promised to return the series to its origins.

Will be released for the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Xbox One and Series X\S, and the PC.

Forza Motorsport

The eighth game in the Forza series, and just like with Horizon we are exposed to crazy and breathtaking graphics that squeeze the capabilities of the Series X to the limit.

The developers claim that this is the most advanced racing game that will use Ray Tracing technology in real time.

The game was revealed last summer and we got a glimpse of particularly impressive gameplay captured in one shot.

There we were exposed to the weather change in real time, the spectacular reflections on the vehicles or the mirrors, and the unique and detailed damage system for the vehicles.

Will be released for PC and Xbox Series X\S consoles.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl

The Ukrainian survival-horror shooter that presents us with an alternate reality where Chernobyl 2 took place, and mutants and other horrific biological creatures arose from the remains of the disaster.

You will step into the shoes of Stalker - who are known as nomads who explore the remains of the radiation zone and what is left of the world.

The game was supposed to come to us back in 2022, but was delayed for this year due to Russia's war on Ukraine.

Will be released for PC and Xbox Series X\S consoles.

Redfall

A new game from Arkane where we will fight against vampires and a story campaign that can be played solo or co-op with three other players, with each of the characters you choose having special abilities.

Arkane is responsible for some of the most enjoyable shooters in recent years (Deathloop, Prey, the Dishoronred series) and we have a lot to look forward to from it.

Will be released for PC and Xbox Series X\S consoles.

Starfield
