Is the Kremlin boss distracting from the weaknesses of the Russians?
Moscow – Putin is said to have put the new Zirkon hypersonic sea missile into service in view of the Ukraine war and Russia's losses.
The Kremlin chief is confident that the hypersonic missile will protect Russia from external threats and protect Russia's interests.
This was announced by Vladimir Putin in a video link to the commissioning of the Zircon rocket on Wednesday.
In the course of the transfer, Putin also promised to arm Russian troops with the most modern weapons.
How dangerous are the Russian hypersonic missiles and what danger could they pose in the Ukraine war?
Putin wants to use hypersonic missile – is announcement to distract from Russia's weaknesses?
Suspicions suggest that Putin wants to distract from the weaknesses of the Russian army in the Ukraine war in the public ceremony on January 4, 2023, in which he boasts about the new hypersonic missile.
More than a decade into what was initially slated to be a limited operation, Putin is no longer perceived by a growing number of Russians as the strong warlord he wants to portray himself as.
This is reported by Kreiszeitung.de.
In addition to the losses already suffered, reports of the Russian army's inadequate equipment and the poor condition of the soldiers are piling up.
As a result, Ukraine often assumed that Putin's end was near because Russia was struggling with such supply problems.
After losses in the Ukraine war: Putin puts the Zirkon hypersonic missile into service
The Zirkon hypersonic missile is one of the new type of hypersonic weapons.
The rocket was probably fired for the first time by the Admiral Gorschkow, a Russian naval fleet.
The Admiral Gorshkov is to be sent on a long voyage to the Atlantic and Indian Oceans to demonstrate Russia's naval power and has become the first frigate to be fitted with new missiles.
According to information from the
German Press Agency
, the Zirkon has a range of more than 500 kilometers and is primarily used to combat ships.
According to Russian information, the hypersonic missile can accelerate to up to 9,000 kilometers per hour.
That's why the anti-aircraft defenses couldn't stop them.
So far, however, it has been difficult to independently verify whether the hypersonic weapons really work as well as Russia claims.
The same applies to the hypersonic weapon Kinschal, which according to Russian information was already used in the Ukraine war.
Even if the information about the hypersonic missiles has not yet been checked, it is considered certain that the hypersonic missiles could pose a new strategic threat.
In politics, therefore, the debate arose as to whether Germany should invest in defense against hypersonic missiles.
