The ethics student council at the Gabriel-von-Seidl-Gymnasium congratulates: Paul Sabisch (supervised by Edgar Schumann) won a prize in the 2022 "PhilosophieArena Rhein Main Kultur" competition.

Bad Tölz

– The competition, in which Paul Sabisch from Tölz received a prize, was advertised nationwide for all types of school.

Out of a total of 140 entries, 17 equal prizes were awarded.

The task of the competition was to write an essay on the topic "Would it be nicer to live in a virtual world than in reality".

In his essay, Paul Sabisch from Q11 designs a world in which people can overcome space and time in their personal virtual world with the help of artificial intelligence and thus find eternal happiness, according to a press release.

Philosophical topic with current reference

For the 17-year-old Wackersberger, the problem with this idea, which is in a sense not dissimilar to a “metaverse” in the sense of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, is that any spontaneous imperfection that is specific to life on earth ultimately has to be eliminated is excluded.

"Ultimately," it continues, "he sees the world heading towards the very utopia he has designed and at the end of his essay he even asks whether this 'perfect world' does not represent the 'paradise' in the individual beliefs .” tk
