The Anti-Triad Action Group and the Special Duty Team of the Tsuen Wan Police District conducted an anti-gambling operation at about 5 pm today (January 6) based on reports and in-depth investigations. They raided a unit in Erpifang and smashed a A suspected illegal gambling stall.
Officers arrested a 55-year-old woman surnamed Li on suspicion of "operating a gambling establishment" and violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F).
In addition, 7 local men, 2 local women and 1 mainland man, aged 27 to 52, were arrested on suspicion of "gambling in a gambling establishment".
They were also suspected of failing to wear masks in the premises, violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Cap. 599F), and officers issued fixed penalty notices to them.
All arrested men and women are being detained for investigation.
During the operation, officers seized 2 fishing machines, 5 game machines, 1 card reader, 1 batch of game cards and about HK$15,000 in gambling money.
