Kerstin Jacob-Rauch demonstrated her knowledge on Friday evening (January 6th) at "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"

But the quiz questions were briefly secondary when Günther Jauch's candidate made a strange confession: she is disgusted by buttons.

Cologne – On Monday evening (January 2nd) Kerstin earned a whopping 32,000 euros during the 3 million euro week of “Who wants to be a millionaire?” and thus qualified for the grand finale.

On Friday she sat across from the show host again.

And talked about her weird phobia, which even shows its effects in the bedroom.

"Who wants to be a millionaire?" Candidate is disgusted by mother-of-pearl buttons

"You make a healthy, alert impression on us," begins Günther Jauch (66) mysteriously, "but you've been hiding a dark secret for many years."

What may sound like a joke for many is harsh reality for Kerstin: She suffers from a button phobia, has an aversion and even disgust for mother-of-pearl buttons.

They seem "slippery" to them.

Günther Jauch immediately looks down at himself and pulls his tie aside.

"Yes, exactly that.

Oh, Herr Jauch!” Kerstin exclaims and from that moment on she can no longer look in Günther Jauch's direction.

Visibly distressed, she turns her head away.

"If you sat across from me without a tie and I ate something, I would have to look at my plate the whole time

," explains the "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" candidate.

Günther Jauch is stunned.

Koumpounophobia

The fear or disgust of buttons is officially called "koumpounophobia".

According to news-medical.net, 1 in 75,000 people suffer from button phobia.

By the way: The button was invented in Germany in the 13th century.

Phobia follows Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant to her bedroom

In the past, her phobia has presented Kerstin with great challenges.

“When I met [my boyfriend], he had really bad buttoned sheets.

That was very bad for me.

I just couldn't spend the night there," explains Kerstin.

She then waited until her partner left the room and secretly cut the buttons from the bed cover with scissors: "It took a lot of effort for me because I had to touch them."
