British Home Secretary Braverman wants to use "robust controls" to determine the age of refugees. X-ray doctors in the country are outraged – because the health system is already overburdened.

Radiologists in the UK are opposing Health Secretary Suella Braverman's controversial proposal to test the age of young refugees.

Ross McGhee, president of the Society of Radiologists, told The Independent newspaper that employees should refuse to do tests that could pose risks.

In addition, employees should limit themselves to medically necessary examinations.

Anything more would put additional pressure on a system that was already "breaking the breaking point," McGhee is quoted in the report as saying.

Braverman had therefore announced that it would introduce "robust controls" to determine the age of people who cross the English Channel in small boats and land on the British coast.

In doing so, she is continuing the plans of her predecessor, Priti Patell.

This had set up a working group to examine various options for age determination, such as X-rays, computed tomography and MRI imaging.

According to the “Independent”, radiologist President Ross McGhee warned of serious consequences for the health system.

“We're not able to recruit and retain enough people to fill the waiting lists.

So any extra pressure, no matter how small, is extra pressure that we don't need.«

According to the report, more than 184,000 patients in England are currently waiting three months or more for important tests.

This has led to warnings over the past month that diagnostic imaging services are close to failure.

Interim resignation

Suella Braverman is an alluring figure in British politics.

She was Home Secretary under Liz Truss, but resigned before Truss for forwarding an official document using her private email address, contrary to ministerial rules.

Truss' successor Rishi Sunak then brought Bravermann back into the cabinet.

Shortly after taking office again, she said in the British Parliament: "The people of Britain have a right to know who is serious about stopping the invasion on our southern coast and who is not." whether all those arriving are refugees in need.

Braverman has an extremely restrictive policy on refugees.

Among other things, because of her plans for a tougher approach to deportations, she was repeatedly criticized.

In parliament, for example, she railed against "tofu-eating" leftists.
