Did you know that a 55-year-old man has spent an average of 3,500 hours of his life shaving?
Whether shaving becomes a daily nuisance or a pleasant grooming ritual depends crucially on the shaving technique.
More and more men like to use the quick, convenient and easy dry shave with the electric razor.
A look at the following fact shows that the quality of the device should meet the highest demands: According to
pharmacies, Umschau is used for every shave
about 0.1 millimeters of the upper horny layer removed!
So even the gentlest shaving systems hurt the skin.
If you put 1 and 1 together, you can calculate how damaging a bad electric razor can be for sensitive facial skin in the long run!
The big razor comparison shows that good things don't always have to be expensive.
Stiftung Warentest: this is how the electric razors were tested
In order to test different models under conditions that are as realistic as possible, the devices were tested under the supervision of experts on subjects between the ages of 18 and 65.
The durability of the electric razors was mechanically tested for 2,520 cycles in a device that simulated the user's contact pressure during shaving.
The following criteria were included in the final score of the tests:
shaving 30%
Skin protection 30%
Handling 20%
Durability 20%
These are the best electric shavers according to Stiftung Warentest
No matter how well an electric razor cuts, there is not a single device that produces skin that is as smooth as a good wet razor.
However, this is due to the different mode of action of wet razors.
These easily pull the whiskers out of the skin before cutting them off.
Electric razors only cut off the hair that gets to the blade through the shaving foil.
Tiny stubbles always remain.
Nevertheless, there are visible and tactile differences here as well.

Tips for best results
Do not shower before
dry shaving
!
Otherwise, the steam could soften the skin and beard so much that the electric shaver can no longer properly grasp and cut off the beard hair.
The opposite applies to
wet shaving
: For this purpose, the hair should not only be wet, but should be freed from the sebum layer by thorough washing.
In order for the razor blade to be able to make smooth and soft cuts, the hair must be swollen.
