Daraa farmers have fully implemented the plan of the Directorate of Agriculture to grow irrigated wheat and barley for the current season, while continuing to cultivate rain-fed wheat.
The Director of Agriculture in Daraa, Eng. Bassam Al-Hashish, told SANA reporter today that 10,815 hectares were cultivated with irrigated wheat, and 32,422 hectares with barley, out of the planned area for planting the irrigated wheat crop in the current season, which amounts to 10,500 hectares, and 32,422 hectares for barley.
Engineer Bassam stated that rainfed wheat cultivation continues in light of the improvement in rainfall, and the cultivated area has reached 67,967 hectares to date, out of the planned area of 82,887 hectares.
He pointed out that the Directorate provides farmers with the necessary services, especially agricultural diesel, through spatial committees, indicating that the Sub-Committee on Fuels in Daraa Governorate assigned the Directorate of Agriculture to form committees, whose mission is to check everything related to the mechanism for distributing agricultural diesel, from determining quantities, and conducting sensory inspection. And take all follow-up and evaluation procedures, to ensure that the material is delivered to those who deserve it.
