The Grünbacher fire brigade has only 28 active members.

There should be more, the commander and mayor agree.

The new home is slowly taking shape.

The Board of Directors was re-elected at the meeting.

Riedersheim

– "We urgently need more people for active service!" That was the most important message from Mayor Lorenz Angermaier and the first commander of the Grünbach fire brigade, Nicolas Stenglein, at their general assembly at Wirt z'Riedersheim.

Because against the background of a new fire station on the B 388 and a new fire engine, the personnel side of the fire department must also be right.

The approximately 50 assembled members confirmed the previous board for a further three years, and there was also approval for a commemorative committee to mark the 150th anniversary and for a slight increase in the membership fee.

"Last year we were called to 68 missions, including three exercises," reported Commander Stenglein in retrospect.

The Wehrmacht currently has 28 active members, including four women, and seven young people in the youth fire brigade.

Stenglein said he was looking forward to moving into the new fire station soon.

The previous rooms are very cramped.

The team is currently working on the so-called technical plan for this new building.

Honored were the long-standing members (back, from left) Siegmund and Martha Goebel (25 years of membership each), Chairman Dominik Denzinger, Vice Robert Schwab, Florian Reiter (25), Jakob Schraufstetter and Helmut Scherzl (45 each), (front, from left) dr

Conrad Binding (65), Josef Eixenberger (honorary member), Elfriede and Udo Gätcke (45 each).

In his welcome address, the head of the town hall, Angermaier, also spoke of a planning year in 2023, but construction should then start in 2024.

"I am pleased that the fire brigade is showing a high level of willingness to do their own work, because those who have worked on the new house will appreciate it all the more later.

You have an exciting future ahead of you, you make an attractive team”.

The Grünbacher fire brigade is well positioned in terms of finances, as treasurer Andreas Kargl explained.

Thanks to income of around 7,500 euros and expenses of around 4,000 euros in 2022, the already pleasing cash position has now been increased to around 51,800 euros.

Simon Goebel, the second youth leader, looked back on the year.

The young firefighters would have had a lot of fun building a monster machine and the fun rally on the archery range.

He also campaigned to get more young people from the community interested in volunteer service.

Finally, Dominik Denzinger, the re-elected first chairman, gave an outlook for the rest of the year.

A one-day village festival is planned for May 20th, the traditional sow dinner on October 14th and the Christmas tree auction on December 9th.

The year 2026 casts big shadows ahead: Then the 150th anniversary of the founding of the local fire brigade is coming up.

In addition to the board, a separate festival committee is needed for this.

The discussion about an increase in the membership fee quickly took place.

Members have been paying seven euros a year since 2001, now it's supposed to be twelve euros, which was accepted unanimously.

When asked by a member why citizens who do not take part in the fire brigade do not have to pay a so-called fire protection fee, Commander Stenglein explained that Bavaria had abolished such an earlier regulation a few years ago.
