It all started with a carnival joke: now the von Kochs from Neufahrn are celebrating their Iron Wedding

Anna (84) and Eckhart von Koch (92) from Neufahrn owe their happiness to a carnival joke.

They have now been married to each other for 65 years.

– A friend of Anna's sister had an eye on Eckhart during a visit to a coffee house in Lauterecken.

The sisters agreed to have fun with her at the upcoming carnival ball.

Every time the girlfriend danced with Eckhart, she got high fives.

At the ball, the women wore masks.

But Eckhart also recognized his favorite.

on the eyes.

It was Anna.

Since then, the two have been a couple.

On Wednesday the von Kochs, who moved from Oberschleißheim to Neufahrn in 2007, celebrated their Iron Wedding.

People complimented each other.

He called her his "dream girl".

She found that we always got along well.

"Even if we once shared our opinion - that's it," Anna von Koch revealed the recipe for the success of her marriage.

The souvenir photo with Neufahrn's third mayor, Ozan Iyibas, showed how great the love is to this day.

The bride spontaneously gave her groom a big kiss.

Iyibas commanded respect from the apparently harmonious couple.

"It's a rarity to be able to celebrate an Iron Wedding," he said.

Iyibas not only brought the congratulations of the community and a large gift basket for the happy couple, but also came on behalf of District Administrator Helmut Petz to congratulate them.

Eckhart von Koch came to the Celle district from Canada

Eckhart von Koch is originally from Canada.

However, his parents wanted him to go to school in Germany.

So he came to Faßberg in the Celle district at the age of ten.

The radio mechanic and electrician later got hired by a company that carried out soil investigations.

After the wedding in January 1958, the couple moved to Munich.

From there they moved to Oberschleißheim and finally to Neufahrn.

The couple had three daughters: Andrea (60), Bettina (58) and Christina (57).

Apart from her maternity and parenting periods, Anna von Koch always worked.

She worked for C & A in Lohhof for a long time.

You simply gave away your own sailing boat

Soon there was also time and money for vacations.

Over the years, you've probably traveled to 15 or 16 countries in Europe in a motorhome.

It started right after the wedding.

The honeymoon was spent in Italy.

The newly married couple traveled with a small car and a tent.

The route led to Naples and Salerno.

Later the von Kochs discovered their passion for sailing.

At Starnberger See, they initially bought a small dinghy.

A stately sailing boat followed.

The "Neptun 26" was at anchor near Seeshaupt.

The couple was also involved in the local sailing club: he as port warden, she in regatta management.

They stopped doing that in 2015 and simply gave the boat away.

Others should enjoy it too.

Typical for Anna and Eckhart von Koch.

Eckhart von Koch is satisfied: "We made the best of everything, but we were always lucky!" For example, when he was looking for work in Munich, he accidentally landed a job and a three-room apartment at the same time - "That was awesome," he recalls.
