The disturbance in the market street was reported to the police around 0.20 a.m.
"After the initial reports of a larger celebration with around 300 people, some of which had moved outside to the street, several patrols from the Mellrichstadt police and neighboring departments went to the site," says the police press release.
When the police officers arrived, contact was quickly made with the 19-year-old organizer, after which the celebration was broken up and the guests were informed of this by means of loudspeaker announcements.
A group of around 50 people suddenly threw bottles at the police officers.
"In addition, the officials from the group were massively insulted and also pelted with a firecracker."
The emergency services called for support, and the situation was brought under control with a large number of other patrols.

Police officers attacked during use - investigations are ongoing
The group of people (aged between 17 and 25) was arrested on site.
"For the subsequent determination of personal data, which is intended to identify the suspects of throwing the bottles, it was necessary, among other things, to completely block Markstrasse, in which the police were supported by the local fire brigade," it said.
The police have launched an investigation into breach of the peace and other crimes.
