Britain will host a meeting of justice ministers in March to discuss ways to support the International Criminal Court's investigation into alleged war crimes in Ukraine, the British government said on Saturday.

The Hague-based ICC has launched an investigation into possible war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the context of the war launched by Russia against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, of which its forces are accused in the majority of cases.

ICC prosecutor Karim Khan is due to take part in the roundtable in March, according to London.

We need the tools to do the job.

We don't have those tools

,” Khan said in December, calling on the international community to focus on supporting – and funding – the ICC.

The British government said the meeting of justice ministers was aimed at "

increasing the financial and practical support provided to the ICC, and coordinating efforts to ensure it has everything it needs to carry out investigating and prosecuting those responsible

” for these crimes.

Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab, who will attend the meeting, said attendees will discuss ways to help gather and share evidence of atrocities, as well as assist victims.

Russian forces must know that they cannot act with impunity and that we will support Ukraine until justice is

served,” he said.
