The police said they noticed a video circulated on the Internet in which two local men argued over traffic problems.
After preliminary investigation, the officers believe that a male private car driver and a male minibus driver had an argument about giving way to a shopping mall on Cheung Sha Wan Road in Cheung Sha Wan at about 8:00 am on January 6, during which the male private car driver The driver suspected that he had verbally intimidated the male minibus driver and claimed to be a triad member.
The case was classified as "criminal intimidation" and "self-declared triad member", and was handed over to the Anti-Triad Action Team of Sham Shui Po District for follow-up.
As of yesterday (January 9), after an in-depth investigation, the police arrested a 47-year-old local man in Kai Ching Estate, Ngau Tau Kok, on suspicion of "allowing someone without a driver's license to drive" and "assisting a criminal who commits an arrestable crime" .
The police said that after investigation, it was found that the arrested man was the owner of the private car.
Officers believed that the arrested man allowed the driver to drive his private car knowing that the driver did not hold a driving license; and assisted the private car driver to escape from the police after the case happened.
During the operation, officers seized a phone suspected to be related to the case.
The arrested man is now being detained by the police for investigation.
The operation is still ongoing and further arrests cannot be ruled out.
