It's been nine years since Marcel Kowalewski began his training as an actor.

In the summer of 2016, the Erdinger successfully completed this and dared to step into the difficult industry.

The 28-year-old has been living in Berlin since the beginning of 2020.

The move to the capital has opened many new doors for him.

Erding/Berlin - Kowalewski is not only in front of the camera himself, but now also works as an acting coach and voice actor.

It also makes him happy: "Now I can make a living from it." Kowalewski can only confirm that Berlin is a popular place for artists and creative people.

His heart is still attached to Erding, but he is happy to have been living in the big city for almost three years.

“The city itself gives me a lot of input.

The decision to come here was the right one, I'm doing very well.” However, his stay in Berlin was shaped by the pandemic for almost the entire time.

For many actors, these limitations have not been easy.

How well everything ultimately developed for Kowalewski, he reports in a virtual conversation with the local newspaper.

In the meantime, the 28-year-old has switched sides and teaches acting himself.

The basic training to become a coach, which the Erdinger received last year from coaching expert Sigrid Andersson, lasted nine months.

As early as summer 2021, Kowalewski was allowed to coach the first people himself and enjoyed it.

He now works as a freelance coach and says: "That changed my life." His clients are spread across Germany.

Kowalewski's youngest guest was 13 years old, the oldest around 60. This includes professionals and newcomers.

They usually come to Erdinger when they have been accepted for a role.

The task of the 28-year-old is then to support her in preparing for the shoot.

Kowalewski knows the challenges as an actor and shares tips and his experiences.

The execution of the role is then discussed together with the actor.

But working as a couch also means that he has to deal intensively with the script himself.

At the time of our interview, Erdinger was working on eight scripts.

Kowalewski loves this variety and learns a lot himself, "because I also prepare roles that I would never play myself, such as 13-year-old boys or older women".

Especially with younger actors, the coach is present on the set to support them during the shooting.

The 28-year-old is currently also allowed to pass on his knowledge at a private acting school in Berlin.

For the second semester in a row, Kowalewski is preparing students there for digital castings in a subject called “Camera Acting”.

Erdinger is there six hours a week.

That's not all: in 2022 Kowalewski also completed a ten-week training course to become a voice actor.

Interest in it was aroused during a corona infection.

Out of boredom, he started dubbing for fun in quarantine, enjoyed it, and passed the entrance exam.

The first jobs were not long in coming after the training, and the number kept growing, which surprised Kowalewski himself.

Because: "As an actor, you always have to fight hard to get roles." The 28-year-old has now set up his own recording room in his apartment and speaks German there several times a week.

This includes many anime productions, documentaries and a lot for the streaming services Disney + and Netflix.

Often there are several smaller roles for the same series, explains Kowalewski.

Despite the new activities, Erdinger is still drawn to the camera.

In 2021 he shot his first international play - a dark English language comedy.

Last year the shooting for the ARD science fiction film "Morin" and for the episode "The Little Knight" in the ARD TV series "Käthe und ich" was scheduled.

Both are scheduled to air this year.

The SOKO Wismar episode "Tot Ahoi" was already broadcast at the beginning of 2022.

This was Kowalewski's first role with red hair, which he had previously dyed out of private interest.

In February, the actor will be back on a Berlin stage.

Preparations are currently underway for "A MAP's Tale", a German-language theater production by Monstress Mess on the prevention of child sexual abuse.

To finance the extensively researched theater project (35,000 euros), financial supporters are currently being sought via a public crowdfunding campaign.

The 28-year-old is only pausing with one activity for the time being: his part-time job as a sports trainer.

"There wasn't enough time for that lately," and Kowalewski can now afford to give up financially.

“When you become an actor, you have to realize that you have to make do with little money first.

It is therefore always better to have a secure part-time job.

The fact that I can now live from my work without fitness classes is a huge thing for me.

I've always wanted that," said the Erdinger's honest statement.

Kowalewski has now achieved his greatest professional goal to date.

Now he would like to expand his skills in all activities and gain more experience.

The 28-year-old cannot say which of his different jobs he enjoys the most.

"I think the mixture is so beautiful and I don't want to miss anything anymore." mot
